MILBURN (JULY 9, 1979) - Honkers GM Dex Erickson has made the first trade of his rule as GM of the team today, sending Broderick Music, the 4th pick in this year's PBL Rookie Draft, to the Houston Marshalls in return for the 8th pick in the draft, center Archie Cauthen, along with Houston's 1st Round draft pick in next year's draft.
Cauthen, 6'11", 253 pounds, played collegiately at Oklahoma. In his final season with the Sooners, he averaged 18.5 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks.
The fact that Houston was willing to add a 1st to this deal made it a go. Cauthen may not start from Day 1, but I like his potential to be not only a defensive presence, but also an inside scoring presence for us as well.
Music has the higher ceiling, but with Cauthen and another 1st, hopefully the sum of the parts is better than the single piece. We'll see how this plays out over the next few years.
