García Wins CL Top Pitcher Award

Jesús García's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-2 in June, the 34-year-old
Leduc hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.
He fanned 39 in 47 innings, logged an ERA of 2.30 and allowed opponents to hit .199 against him.
This year
García has compiled a 8-6 mark with a 2.55 ERA.

The Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League for June was
Tokyo's star reliever
Derek Beacan.
"I was wondering if relievers were even eligible for this thing," Beacan joked with reporters. "I guess the voters do know there's actual pitchers down there in the pen."
The
Catfish bullpen ace collected no saves and 28 strikeouts in 40.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .270 average and posting a 2.23 ERA and a 5-1 record.
