John Griffin nailed down July's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on
Cleveland to get a deal done before the 30-year-old becomes a free agent.
Griffin seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"
He fashioned a 5-0 record, reeled off 30 strikeouts, worked 38.1 innings and held batters to a .225 average for the month as he posted a 1.64 ERA.

Dale Wilbraham is the latest Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The
Hartford starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished July with an outstanding 4-1 record.
