In the top of the 1st Willie McGee singles home Jackie Robinson to give Yuma a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd Roberto Alomar hits a solo homerun to tie the game 1-1. Tony Lazzeri gives Stamford a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 4th with a solo homerun to left. In the bottom of the 5th Stamford adds another run as Ty Cobb scores on a throwing error as they now lead 3-1. In the top of the 6th Juan Gonzalez ties the game with a 2 run homerun. Luis Gonzalez follows with a solo homerun on the next pitch to take a 4-3 lead. Three batters later Pete Rose brings home Willie McGee with a sacrifice fly. They top off their 5 run inning later as Gary Carter scores on a wild pitch and Yuma takes a 6-3 lead. Pete Rose leads off the 8th with a solo homerun over the fence in right to make it 7-3. Bill Swift stays in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Tony Lazerri greets him with a single on the first pitch. Roberto Almoar follows with a double to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Urban Shocker comes in to pitch. Ken Griffey Sr. comes in to pinch hit and singles home both runners on a 2-0 pitch to make it 7-5. Ty Cobb follows with a single, runners at 1st and 2nd with still no outs. Cleon Jones strikes out swinging for the first out. Brian Downing walks to load the bases with one out. Mike Schmidt crushes a 1-2 pitch deep to center, back to the track and caught at the wall. Ken Griffey Sr. tags and scores and Ty Cobb goes to third. Runners at the corners with 2 outs in a 7-6 game. Boog Powell fouls off several pitches and eventually walks on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases. Monte Irvin grounds out to second on a 1-2 pitch to end the rally and give Yuma the 7-6 victory. Jerry Koosman improves to 3-0 as he allows 3 runs on 9 hits in 7.0 innings. Norwood Gibson gets the loss, allowing 6 runs in 5.1 innings. Willie McGee collects 4 hits for Yuma and Ty Cobb picks up 4 hits for Stamford.

Wichita @ Takoma Park
Takoma Park wins easily in an 8-2 game. Larry Jansen picks up his first victory, allowing 2 runs over 8.0 innings of work. Dave McNally drops to 0-3 as he allows 4 runs in 4.0 innings. Ken Griffey Jr. accounted for both Wichita runs with a pair of hits, including a homerun. Andre Dawson picks up 3 hits for Takoma Park.

Staten Island @ Dayton
In the bottom of the 2nd Dayton gets on the board as Kevin McReynolds singles home Tony Fernandez to take a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd Staten Island takes the lead as Dave Engle doubles home Al Dark and Orval Overall doubles home Dave Engle and Manny Trillo to take a 3-1 lead. Dayton ties the game up in the bottom of the 5th as Tim Raines scores on a wild pitch and Tony Fernandez singles in Joe Morgan. After 5 the game it tied 3-3. Staten Island retakes the lead in the top of the 6th as Al Dark scores on an Andy Van Slyke pinch hit ground out. Staten Island leads 4-3. Dayton ties the game in the bottom of the 6th as Joe Morgan doubles home Tim Raines to make it 4-4. Joe Sambito comes in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Joe Moran walks on a 3-2 pitch to lead off the inning. Hank Aaron takes a 2-2 fast ball and rips it over the fence in left center for a game winning 2 run homerun. Dayton wins 6-4. Joe Sambito gets the loss in relief. Marcelino Lopez gets the win in relief. Dave Engle has 4 hits for Staten Island. Joe Morgan is 3 for 3 for Dayton along with 2 walks.

Kalamazoo @ Chicago
Dickey Kerr dominates the Kalamazoo hitters as he throws a complete game 4 hit shutout in a 5-0 Chicago victory. Bret Saberhagen takes the loss, allowing 5 runs in 6.2 innings. Ralph Garr has three hits for Chicago and Pee Wee Reese and Will Clark added a homerun each.

Staten Island @ Dayton
In the bottom of the 1st Al Rosen singles home Joe Morgan to give Dayton a 1-0 lead. Staten Island strikes back in the top of the 2nd with 3 runs to take a 3-1 lead thanks to RBI singles by Al Dark, Manny Trillo and Gary Nolan. In the bottom of the 3rd Hank Aaron singles home Joe Morgan to get Dayton back to within 1 at 3-2. The game settles down until the bottom of the 6th when We Westrum takes a 1-1 pitch and deposits it over the left field fence for a two out three run homerun to give Dayton a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the 7th Tim Raines scores on an Al Rosen sacrifice fly to make it 6-3. In the top of the 8th Staten Island gets two runs back on back to back RBI singles by Lou Gehrig and Carl Furillo to get to within 6-5. Calvin Jones comes in to pitch the top of the 9th. Larry Doby pinch hits to lead off the inning and singles. Sam Crawford sacrifices him to 2nd. Pinch hitter Mike Lum grounds out and Doby moves to 3rd with two outs. On an 0-1 pitch Shoeless Joe Jackson singles to tie the game 6-6. Lou Gehrig pops out to third to end the inning. The game goes to extra innings tied 6-6. In the bottom of the 10th Jack Clark singles to lead off the inning. Art Howe walks on 4 pitches, 1st and 2nd with no outs. Wes Westrum singles to left and Jack Clark is waved home and beats the throw as Dayton wins 7-6. Joe Sambito gets the loss in relief. Calvin Jones improves to 3-0 with the win in relief, though he blew the save. Jack Clark is 4 for 4 for Dayton with a walk. Wes Westrum has 4 hits and 4 RBI's for Dayton.

Wichita @ Takoma Park
Ozzie Smith leads off the game with a single. He steals second and moves to third on a throwing error. Bake McBride brings him home with a sacrifice fly as Wichita takes a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 7th Kent Hrbek leads off the inning with a solo homerun to give Wichita a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs and Tommie Agee on 1st George Foster hits a 2 run homerun to tie the game 2-2. The game goes to extra innings tied 2-2. In the bottom of the 10th Roy Campanella and Tommie Agee walk to lead of the inning, 1st and 2nd with no outs. Pinch hitter Earl Williams grounds into a double play with Campanella moving to 3rd with 2 outs. Graig Nettles pops out to third to end the inning. In the top of the 11th Joe bleeping Carter hits a one out solo homerun to give Wichita a 3-2 lead. Sam Zoldak retires the side in order in the bottom of the 11th and Wichita wins 3-2. Sam Zoldak gets the win with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Pete Richert gets tagged with the loss in relief. Takoma Park was held to just 3 hits, with one being Foster's 2 run homerun. Only Kent Hrbek had more than one hit for Wichita as he had two, including a homerun.

Yuma @ Stamford
John Olerud hits a solo homerun in the top of the 1st to give Yuma a 1-0 lead. Ty Cobb scores on an error in the bottom of the 1st as Stamford ties the game 1-1. In the top of the 2nd Tim Foli doubles home Willie McGee to give Yuma a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the 5th Ty Cobb singles home Tony Lazzeri to tie the game 2-2. Yuma strings together 5 hits and a walk to score 4 runs in the top of the 6th and take a 6-2 lead. Gary Carter hits a solo homerun in the top of the 7th to make it 7-2. In the bottom of the 7th Ty Cobb triples home Bryan Little to get a run back and make it 7-3. In the bottom of the 9th Bob Feller takes the mound to start the inning. Tony Lazzeri singles and Feller is replaced by Bill Swift. Ken Griffey Sr. pinch hits and singles, 1st and 2nd with no outs. Mark Thurmond comes in to pitch. Ty Cobb singles and Tony Lazzeri scores, 7-4. Roberto Alomar and Monte Irvin fly out, two outs. Boog Powell takes the first pitch that he sees and homers to right, a three run homer to tie the game 7-7. Cleon Jones flies out to left to end the inning, it goes to extra innings tied 7-7. In the bottom of the 12th Stamford loads the bases with one out. Frank White crushes a 1-1 pitch for a 444 foot grand slam to win the game 11-7 for Stamford. Mike Schooler gets the win in relief. Steve Farr gets the loss in relief. Ty Cobb has 4 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's for Stamford and was a homerun away from the cycle. Tony Lazzeri has 4 singles and scores 3 runs for Stamford.

Kalamazoo @ Chicago
In the bottom of the 1st Will Clark singles home Tony Gwynn to take a 1-0 lead for Chicago. In the top of the 2nd Kalamazoo ties the game as Mickey Tettleton scores on a ground out to tie it 1-1. In the bottom of the 6th Phil Garner hits a solo homerun to give Chicago a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 8th Kalamazoo loads the bases with 1 out. Dave Concepcion grounds into a double play to end the inning. Duane Ward comes in for the top of the 9th and allows a single to Earle Combs but strikes out Bill Robinson, Johnny Evers and Bobby Thomson to end the game. Eddie Cicotte gets the loss, allowing 2 runs in 8.0 innings. Joe Niekro gets the win, allowing 1 run in 8.0 innings.

Stamford jumps to an 8-2 lead and holds on for the 8-5 victory. John Candelaria gets the win, allowing 3 runs in 8.0 innings. Mordecai Brown gets his first loss of the season, allowing 4 runs in 5.0 innings. John Olerud hits two homeruns for Yuma, knocking in 3. Ty Cobb has 4 hits for Stamford and knocks in 3.

Wichita @ Takoma Park
In the top of the 2nd Wichita scores two on a 2 run single by Alan Ashby to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 4th Takoma Park ties the game with runs brought in on a bases loaded walk and single. In the bottom of the 6th Babe Ruth hits a solo homerun to give Takoma Park a 3-2 lead. Wichita scores 3 in the top of the 8th with an RBI single by George Brett and a two run single by Kent Hrbek. Wichita leads 5-3. Rich Gossage comes in for the bottom of the 9th and retires the side in order to close it out. Wichita wins 5-3. Randy Johnson gets his first win of the season, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits in 8.0 innings. Bob Knepper gets his first loss of the season, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits in 7.2 innings.

Staten Island @ Dayton
In the bottom of the 3rd Joe Morgan hits a solo homerun to give Dayton a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 6th Lou Gehrig doubles home Sam Crawford to tie the game 1-1. Pitching holds and the game goes to extra innings tied 1-1. In the bottom of the 10th Art Howe singles home Kevin McReynolds for the 2-1 Dayton victory. Bryn Smith gets the loss in relief. Grover Lowdermilk improves to 2-0 with the win in relief. Lou Gehrig has 3 hits for Staten Island in the losing cause.

Kalamazoo @ Chicago
Chicago is never really challenged and wins 6-3. Nolan Ryan drops to 0-2 as he allows 4 runs in 6.0 innings. Cy Young gets his first victory as he allows 3 runs in 8.0 innings. Duane Ward gets his 7th save of the season. Will Clark has 3 hits and knocks in 3 for Chicago.
