The torrential downpours of the day helped keep the game scoreless in the first half but Dafoe Chang scored two goals and 17yo UberTrainee(TM) Tobias Hultman added a third. The win assures Houston a spot in the Round of 32 which begins in two weeks. Next week, the Hippos visit the Missouri Tigers in their final Group Play game.

(07:08) Hippos Regain First! An MotS and riotous Hippodrome crowd propelled the Hippos to a 5-0 whitewashing of CC's Dragons to regain control of first in V.62. It was an entire team effort as the Hippos posted an excellent midfield and a team high rating of (!)68 with 30 stars. Five different players scored for Houston including 3.5 star middies Carlos Alberto Benito and Stephen Connors. Now the race for Div V.62 comes down to goal differential with Houston holding a narrow 3 goal lead.

(10:10) Solomon Four Good in Hippos Win Yet another stressful game for the Hippos ended with a scoring spree. Derrick Solomon, recently promoted back to the A Team after last week's 4 goal scorer Juan Miguel Tizon sunk even lower in form, scored 4 goals including 2 in the final 5 minutes to put the game away. Edwin Phelan scored his league leading 8th goal with only 6 minutes to go in the game. It was tense times for the Hippo faithful as the game was tied 2-2 until Phelan's goal. (01:59) Tizon Explodes as Hippos Win Sometimes it takes an injury to get a player on track. Early in the game, Edwin Phelan scored a pair to regain the league scoring lead at 7 but the Buccabeavzers tied it up at 2 in the 38th minute. That's when Juan Miguel Tizon took over. His form had related him to the B Team but was playing in place of injured Dafoe Chang but that didn't keep him from scoring 4 times and breaking the game wide open en route to a 7-2 Hippos win at the 'Drome. FOFC Cup Group play continues Wednesday.

(05:12) Dragons Defeat Hippos at the Den CC's Dragons, playing at home and MotS'ing in the rain, won an ugly game 3-0 over the Hippos to take over 1st place in V.62. The Hippos offense could never get ontrack against a Dragons defense that has only allowed 1 goal all year and Stan Whitmore's 2 goals were more than enough. However, the Hippos have designs on taking 1st place back when the Dragons come to the Hippodrome in 3 short weeks. Additionally, the Hippos began FOFC Cup group play this week against the Midwest Ice Storm.

(22:56) Hippos Win 4-1; Look to Next Week It was a nerve wracking first half where the Hippos wasted three scoring chances and went into the half, tied 1-1 with the Metal Mulisha despite 86% possession. However, Stephen Connors, Carlos Alberto Benito, and Juan Miguel Tizón all scored second half goals as the Hippos rolled. Edwin Phelan scored his league lead-tying 5th goal of the season to start the game out 1-0 Hippos. Next week is THE Game: Hippos/Dragons for the series lead at the Dragons Den! Be there!
