YSSC Thanksgiving Invitational - Results

200 IM - 2:46.58 – Did ok in the opening fly leg and posted a personal best 2:43.52
500 Free – 6:52.84 – Strong swim from Brett and his improvements even exceeded my expectations. He finished with a 6:09.02. A drop of 43 seconds, and the coach feels he can do even better now that he is learning how to swim this event.
100 Breast – 1:20.44 – overworked this swim…trying to work on undulating more in the stroke…but he forced it rather than allowing the rhythm to work for him…1:23.74
200 Back – 2:58.13 – The better kick, longer stroke and a bit faster arm rotation resulted in an improved time of 2:38.71
400 IM – NT – wasn’t thrilled about swimming it, but never complained, and never hesitated. He didn’t do great, but did ok…5:46.86
200 Free – 2:21.21 – Took this one a little to nonchalant…don’t know if the pace from the 500 threw him off, but he added a couple of seconds 2:23.76
200 Breast - 2:59.00 – After the poor swim in the 100 on Saturday, I didn’t hold much hope of an improvement in the 200…but this time Brett got in a nice rhythm, and really worked to keep up with the swimmer to his inside shoulder. He ended up not only improving, but dropping almost 8 seconds. 2:51.60
100 Fly - 1:29.94 – Form is better, but speed is lacking…1:40.59
1000 Free – He actually got into this event…and the improvement in the 500 carried over to this event. Turned most of his 50s in low 38s..and on the back half dropped the final few 50s to mid 37s. Finished with a 12:30.73...that is a drop of about 1 minute 40 seconds…Coach was thrilled with this swim and Brett has already requested to swim teh 1650 at the next meet.
