Week 2: Shreveport at Chesapeake
We host Shreveport, managed by FishFan, who scampered away with the Chesapeake playbook last season dugin his time as caretaker, and then stabbed me in the back by snagging the free agent linebacker who would have made my offseason complete. Now, we must make him pay.
Shreveport is a solid team, with a good starting QB in Paul Jennings and a nice rookei receiver for him to throw to. Solid personnel all around – essentially a better team than we are on paper. Roster rating edge of 73-57. They are favored by one point at our place, despite losing their opener.

Once again, we get a win behind a solid defensive effort, and a fairly lackluster showing from the offense. It’s tough to complain about being 2-0, especially when it wasn’t at all clear that this team was going to be all that cmopetitive – but now we have put up two solid wins without really even hitting our stride.
Hilton Boner, it seems, has slipped back to his mistake-prone ways – throwing three picks this game, and keeping our pretty effective offense from really putting this game out of reach. A 75 passer rating on the year – not too far below his career average – just isn’t all that imposing. The overall production – nearly 400 yards of offense – is fine, but we can’t lose the turnover battle and expect to win most of our games.
But our passing defense was very tough once again this week, and that is the only cylinder that is completely clicking for this team. As we work things out, it’s always easier to do so while sitting on a winning record, so we are thankful for that.
Next week we face Hell Creek, another very solid team run by the noble and astute Allosaurus. We’ll be up against yet another superstar QB in Skip Peterson, and another team whose roster outclasses ours by a wide margin – 76 to 60. We will no doubt be underdogs on the road, but will be looking to make our mark once again.
