2027-2028 Hot Seat Ratings and Coach Goals

Coaches on a Hot Seat

Bee Mighty (TCU) -- We knew it would be a matter of time before the Horned Frogs would start giving up on the Bee. They could care less that the Big 12 is super tough. They feel like they aren't asking much, just any type of postseason appearance.

Coaches on an Average Seat

Ariel Pryde (North Carolina) -- The Tarheels have struggled the last couple years, and with it being his first season there, Ariel should get a pass, but the board still thinks they are good enough to make the NCAA Tournament.

Al Mighty (Notre Dame) -- Al really helped his cause by leading the Fighting Irish to the Sweet Sixteen last season. The board thinks they can get back there this season.

Felix Abel (North Florida) -- Nothing has changed for the Ospreys, the board still is looking for that Atlantic Sun conference title.

Ess Vee (Northwestern) -- The Wildcats have surprised a lot of teams in the past couple seasons, and the board is happy but not satisfied. They want consistency, and that starts by routine trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Brett Hawkins (Ohio State) -- The 2nd of our 3 coach changes, Brett takes over an Ohio State team that lost in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. That's not enough for the board. They want a Final Four appearance.

David Ginsberg (Wichita State) -- Our final coach move, and this is one I'll be keeping an eye on, being from Wichita. It's going to be tough though, with the Shockers' recent success, the board wants a Final Four appearance. Of course, I want a national title, but my opinion doesn't matter lol.

Thomas Shepard (San Jose State) -- The Spartans have far exceeded expectations the last couple seasons, and the board has taken note of that. They are just looking for a .500 finish in the Mountain West this season.

DeShawn St. John (Washington State) -- The Cougars might have the most patient board of all our coaches. Despite consistent cellar finishes in the Pac 12, Coach St. John is nowhere near a hot seat. However, the board feels it is time to break that non-postseason streak, and they want a postseason appearance.

Coaches on a Cool/Cold Seat

Dean Hoo (St. John's) -- The Red Storm didn't have the greatest of seasons last year, but still made it to the Elite Eight. It's going to take a lot for Dean to lose his job, but the board still expects a Sweet Sixteen run.

Rob Nielsen (Bryant) -- A bit of a surprise here, as Coach Nielsen didn't have a great first season with the Bulldogs. What he did do though, is lead them to a cinderella story as they won the Northeast Tournament and stole an NCAA bid. This season, the board would just like a .500 finish in Northeast play.

Will Brown (Wagner) -- It was a good season for the Seahawks last season, even if they didn't match expectations. This season, the board would like Wagner to win the Northeast conference title.

Benito Sanchez (Stanford) -- The Cardinal fell short of their goal last season, but Coach Sanchez is nowhere near having his seat warmed. The board would like a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Tim Shepard (UCLA) -- The Bruins continue to be consistent, other than 1 bad season. But it's been a couple seasons since they've sniffed the Final Four, and the board is ready for another Final Four trip.

Roy Rogers (Alabama) -- While the Crimson Tide were helped by a strong SEC record last season, their non-conference record must improve. The board wants a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Randolph Childress (Alabama State) -- The Hornets were upset in the SWAC Tournament last season, and lost in the First Round of the NIT. The board is hoping for a SWAC championship this season.

B.B. Gunn (Arkansas Pine Bluff) -- The Golden Lions had a Cinderella season of their own, making the NCAA Tournament after winning the SWAC Tournament. The board wants to see them build on that and win the SWAC title.

Benton Gale (Troy) -- The Trojans disappointed a bit last season, but still made the CBI. This season, the board wants an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Charlie Shocker (San Diego) -- The Toreros also made it to the NCAA Tournament last season. This season, the board would be happy with an appearance in any postseason tournament.
