FA Trophy Semifinal Second Leg
Woking(2) @ Accrington(0)
We're pretty tired today as a group, presumably Accrington are as well.
GK: Lynch
DEF: Williams/Fenton/Thomas/Pulis
MC: Sloma/Herd
AM: Coke/McLaggon
ST: Harsanyi/Cousins
Counter-attacking today, remember we just need to hang on to a 2 goal lead.
23': We shoot on a free kick, way wide, but noteworthy as its the first shot of the match by either team.
25': They intercept a pass by Pulis in our half of the field and counter very quickly, one pass foward, a through ball and a shot by Lynch.
0-1 (2-1)
35': We earn a corner, Sloma curls it in, Fenton runs on to it and Heads it in!
1-1 (3-1)
37': They get a guy in the area but Pulis makes a nice tackle to prevent a shot.
39': they don't manage a shot but scare the hell out of me, the ball is in our penalty area seemingly forever. When we do finally clear it, we counter quickly, Harsanyi with a long ball forward to McLaggon, he runs free into the area and has a clear cut strike... saved by the keeper.
HALF: So far so good.
48': Harsanyi with a yellow.
51': We allow a through ball into the area, Mike Williams brings his man down and that's a penalty. They hit it.
1-2 (3-2
70': We back off to defend all out. Lets ohld this lead.
76': Arter in for Sloma, Ademola in for McLaggon.
83': WTF. And there's the tying goal. They win a ball in midfield, pass it forward, midfielder Kerry with a strike from 25 yards out. And that is that. We're all tied up.
1-3 (3-3)
FULL TIME: We just seem to not do well when we are in defensive mode with this team. I use my last sub going into extra time to bring out Pulis and in Anane.
91': A long cross and a header just over the bar for Accrington, scary attack right off the bat.
95': They ahve put 3 headers just over the bar now, sheesh.
97': Harsanyi with an amazing run, Arter steals a ball in midfield, Harsanyi receives a pass over 40 yards out, runs by 3 men, into the area... and cannot beat the keeper, just a brilliant run, but alas.
103': Anane goes down passing the ball.. no one near him
104': Cross into the area by Ademola, Harsanyi heads it, saved.
ET HALF: Nothing I can do here, lets win this w/o penalties.
106': a long shot by Arter... wide.
110': Fenton goes down and stays down. 50% fitness. We are dying here. He goes off with the doc but comes back.
113': Long ball to the right side ofr Cousins, he controls and has a step... offsides. BS!
117': Herd goes down in midfield after a tackle, foul on the other team, no card, Herd 51%...
119': long goal kick by the keeper, they get a striker ahead of the defense, but a poor first touch sends it right to lynch.
FULL TIME: and its off to penalties
Penalty Kicks:
Arter up first for us... wide 0-0
Proctor for Acrington, beats lynch, 0-1
Williams for us, right side of the net, 1-1
Kerry for them, left side, in, 1-2
Cousins steps up, left side, keeper dove the wrong way, 2-2
Grant for them, left side, we need a stop somewhere
2-3
Herd for us, keeper picks the wrong way, in, 3-3
Green for them, hits the left post... bounces in, ERGH! 3-4
Harsanyi to keep us alive, just under the diving keeper, 4-4
Last chance, Turner for Accrington, Lynch gets ready, PK is taken straight on, lynch dives, no luck. 4-5
Accrington 3 : 1 Woking (3-3, 5-4 PK)
We just did not do a good job today, there is no reasonable excuse to lose when starting with a 2 goal advantage.
Fenton with our goal today, 7.6. Sloma the assist, 7.2. Herd puts up a 7.0, Coke a 5.8, Pulis a 5.9, Thomas a 5.4, some very poor defense all around.
Injury Update
Anane is out for about 2 weeks.
It is really a good thing we won our last league match and kept our lead up. After going 120 minutes today, we have to come back and play Cheltenham in 4 days.
1. Woking - 80 pts (39 matches played)
2. Forest Green - 75 pts (40 matches played)
3. Cambridge - 70 pts (40 matches played)
Cambridge are basically done now. We are up 5 on Forest Green but we also have one extra match to play.
