Japanese League erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Ichiro Suzuki started the rally when he stroked a one-base hit. One out later, Katsuya Nomura came up and he drew a walk. Saduharu Oh then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 15th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Japanese League and the 42,456 home town fans in attendance. Japanese League had only 3 hits for the game. The win was credited to Sugishita(2-5) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Brian Babson(6-5) was hit with the loss. He surrendered just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. Coach said after the game, "Babson deserved better. If I hadn't been brain dead, and had called in Bo to pitch to Oh we probably win this one." 'What a game!,' Sugishita said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'
