Beacons win over the Stars
BOSTON - Having lost to the Virginia Stars in Week 5 - their only loss in their last four games - the Boston Beacons avenged that loss by beating Virginia 22-15 on Friday night. Boston (5-3) started off slowly, but both their offense and defense stepped up as the Beacons took the lead, then held Virginia back.
Boston fullback Simone Endrizzi, accused by Chicago head coach Dave Waterman last week of playing dirty on defense, scored the first try of the game in the 23rd minute, then proceeded to the nearest CBS camera to celebrate. He put one finger to his mouth. This is only speculation, but it was as if he was saying to Waterman, "Shut up!"
"I reckon he shouldn't have done that," Beacons head coach Paddy Moriarty said in reference to Endrizzi's celebration. "But Simone plays with a lot of passion, and it comes out of him sometimes."
Boston has now won three straight games, and four of their last five. Meanwhile, Virginia (5-3) suffered their first loss in five games.
Virginia right wing
Kuji Chagulia had one try.
