New Jersey HS Football Dynasty - TCY
I went through and changed all the teams, putting the teams in their own group and sections.
The Private/Parochial schools are in three groups called Private Group A, B & C..each of these "conferences" are based on size, so C being the smallest and A being the largest (though admittely, I should've done it the other way around) Anyway, all the Group 1 & 2 schools are in one conference called All-State Group 1 and All-State Group 2. The other conferences are: North Jersey 1, Group IV & III North Jersey 2, Group IV & III I don't know how unusual our structure is for schools and sports, so I'm linking the main page of the NJSIAA web site NJSIAA here. More on what team I'll be playing and all that later.

What group 1 schools are you including in your game? I actually attended a group 1 school in one of the North Jersey Sections, would be kind of cool to follow it in your dynasty.

The All-State Group 1 Conference schools are: Paulsboro Hasbrouck Heights Hoboken Secaucus Dunellen Bernards Asbury Park New Providence Bound Brook Cedar Grove A.P. Schalick Somerset County Vo-Tech New Providence South Hunterdon It was admittely pretty haphazard at this level, when I was choosing schools.

Immaculata HS - Somerville
I initially decided to take over Immaculata High School in Somerville. I simulated the first season straight through and the team went 8-3, good for third place in the Private Group B conference and we had a solid win (56-20) over the eventual conference champs Glouchester Catholic.
So, while the team didn't have a playoff year, my hope is that next season we can have another solid year. We'll see. The incoming 9th graders we have coming in were ranked #35 in the state, so there is some hope there, while some of the bigger schools that did well this year had an awful year in terms of the kids coming in.

2004 NJSIAA PLAYOFFS
I'm originally from Plainfield and the 3rd oldest rivalry in the state is between Plainfield & Westfield (they played their 100th game this year) and coming from there, it's kinda funny that they played each other in a playoff game. (it's happened before)

2005 SPARTANS PREVIEW - NOTABLE PLAYERS
QB Ernie Burnett, SR
Coming off a junior season where he started the last seven games, he threw for 19 TDs and 2015 yards. The rest of the offense is largely untested. DT Ben Manning, SR Started all 11 games last year, he had 22 tackles and 5 sacks. DE Myron McCune, SR Started 9 games last year and had 18 sacks. A real beast.

What about Central Jersey Group 3? I went to Franklin High, you got them in there?

So do you change all of the schools locations as well, or just the names of the schools?

#20 IMMACULATA @ TOMS RIVER SOUTH PREVIEW
IMMACULATA SPARTANS (1-0) @ TOMS RIVER SOUTH (1-1)
The #20th-ranked Spartans play their last non-conference game against Toms River South. They've lost to #18 St. Joesph Regional during Week 1 35-9. Then they knocked off lowly Delran 44-8, last week. They're basically a middle of the pack team, facing a defense that shellacked Newark's Shabazz High School last week. The line is even, but it'll be a real test for the Spartans and give a glimpse as to whether they'll be pretenders or contenders this year in Private Group B.

GAME PREVIEW: IMMACULATA (2-0) VS. MARIST (2-1)
The 18th-ranked Spartans welcome the Royal Knights of Marist HS in Bayonne this Saturday. The Knights (2-1) will likely have some problem with the two-pronged attack of the Spartans pass and run offense, which have combined for over 450 yards in their first two games this season.
Marist lost their only game against a ranked opponent - #21 Warren Hills - during Week 3 (33-7), which is another sign that doesn't bode well for the visitors. This is another matchup that the Spartans are expected to win and a loss would deflate the excitement that's building both on their campus and with the alumni. Expected QB Ernie Burnett, SR to have another outstanding game, if Immaculata is to pull off the win. If the defense gets another solid game out of DE Myron McCune, SR, then the Spartans should score another victory. For reference, last year the Spartans pummeled Marist 73-7 on the road. Another win would extend the team's win streak to six games going into last season, the only Private Group team with a longer streak is Bayley-Ellard (Madison) in Group C.

IMMACULATA 42, MARIST 23
THIRD STRAIGHT 40-POINT GAME, SPURS SPARTANS PAST MARIST
From C-N.COM SOMERSET - 599 yards. That's the amount of offense produced by the high-flying offense of Dark Cloud's Immaculata Spartans in last night's win over the Marist Royal Knights. "The boys were clicking tonight. Things were far smoother than we thought after practice the other night," said Dark Cloud. They clicked so well, that the team put together 21 points in the 4th quarter, to ensure victory would be there, despite a tough effort by the Marist squad. Last season, Immaculata went to Bayonne and embarassed Marist 73-7. "It's a whole new year," said Marist coach J.C. Walker, whose squad dropped to 2-2 with the loss. Immaculata QB Ernie Burnett (SR) was on fire, going 21-30 throwing for 346 yards with 3 TDs and an interception. Not to be outdone, Sophomore RB Heath Kocurek ran for 165 yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdowns. "It was awesome out there tonight. We're all having a ton of fun," said Kocurek after the win. Next up for the Spartans will head to Edison to face the Bishop Ahr Trojans (2-1) who lost last week to #12 Queen of Peace, 30-21, the top team in Private Group B at 4-0. "They're a tough team and to play Queen of Peace that closely, we've got to watch out for them," said Dark Cloud about his team's next opponent. GAME PREVIEW: #16 IMMACULATA (3-0) @ #45 BISHOP GEORGE AHR (2-1)
From the Courier-News
SOMERVILLE - The Spartans play their first ranked opponent, as they continue through their Private Group B schedule, this time facing off against Bishop George Ahr HS in Edison. The Spartans bring their high-octane offense to Edison, after their third straight game this season of over 450 yards, this time hitting nearly 600 yards of total offense (599). While a formidible foe and argubaly, the best team that Immaculata has faced all year, the Trojans will have a hard time keeping up with the Spartans of Immaculata. With two running backs that don't have as many yards (321) as Immaculata's sophomore sensation RB Heath Kocurek, who has 76 carries for 439 yards and 5 TDs, they'll need to stop him - while preventing senior QB Ernie Burnett from racking up yards with his arm or his feet. Meanwhile, the Trojans may be without junior QB Ike Burks who has a ligiment strain. Without him, they'll have untested freshman QB Ronald Patton who has only thrown 6 passes with 2 completions in his career thus far. Without a threat to keep up with an Immaculata offense that has scored 40+ on three straight opponents (though to their credit, Bishop Ahr did this to its first two opponents before being stalled by Queen of Peace last week), they'll be hard-pressed to score the big victory against a Top 20 opponent.

A quick look at: FRANKLIN HS
This North Jersey, Group 3 team is coming off a 4-7 season and was slow out of the gate this season.
They lost a close Week 2 contest against Morris Catholic 20-17, then faced off against Union and lost 45-30. A shellacking at the hands of Newark East Side - 77-0 - forced some changes by Coach Clay Reeves, which resulting in a Week 6 win over Newark's Malcolm X Shabazz HS 28-3 at home. Freshman S Stephen Nixon has been a beast for the defense, with 27 tackles and 2 interceptions so far this season. Offensively, the team relies heavily upon the feet of Senior QB Wade Branch who has thrown for 5 TDs and is 32-71 for 561 yards with his arm, but has 114 yards on 26 carries with a rushing TD so far this year - making him the team's second leading rusher.

WEEK 6: IMMACULATA 35 BISHOP AHR 23
EDISON - Another game, another win for the Spartans of Immaculata, who keep finding ways to win. A small victory for Bishop Ahr, is that they're the first opponent to keep the Spartans under 40 points this season. But in the end, the result was the same.
Senior WR A.J. Fairley caught 7 passes for 107 yards and 2 TDs. Senior QB Ernie Burnett gave the ball away three times last night, despite throwing for 3 TDs, going 19-33 for 263 yards. Next up for Immaculata, is a matchup against Msgr. Donovan HS in Toms River, who have yet to win a game this season and are riding a 9 game losing streak. "We don't take any game for granted," said Dark Cloud, coach of Immaculata. Box Score: Immaculata at Bishop Ahr Week 6, 2005 Attendance: 25,300 (30,000). IMMACULATA 52, MSGR. DONOVAN 35
TOMS RIVER - Immaculata (5-0) knocked off Msgr. Donovan HS in Toms River last night, increasing the longest losing streaks in Private Group B (10 games), while increasing the longest win streak in the group and 2nd longest in the state to 8 games.
The longest losing streak in the state is Central Jersey, Group 4 school Manalapan at 17 games. The Spartans offense was led by Senior Ernie Burnett who, despite throwing for 2 interceptions, went 25-36 and threw for 462 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior WR Bryant Grabowski catching 7 passes for 168 yards and 2 TDs, increasing his total to a team-leading 7 on the season, starting the game off a 93-yard strike from Burnett. Next week, the Spartans get their first "pretender v. contender" test returning back home to face off against Glouchester Catholic (5-1), whose only loss came against Newark East Side (3-3) 41-30 in a Week 4 battle. If Burnett can keep his interceptions to a minimum and the running game continues to be a key factor, there is little reason the Spartans can't improve to 6-0. "It's pretty crazy to be ranked in the Top 10," said Head Coach Dark Cloud, who said the team was just doing their best to maintain their position. "We believe we ought to be in the state tournament. But we realize that we have to be flawless in some ways, because that's just how competitive it is out there. We'd rather not leave it [a state playoff berth] to chance." IMMACULATA 27, GLOUCHESTER CATHOLIC 24
SOMERSET - After Immaculata went up 27-24, Glouchester Catholic got the ball back with just over 2 minutes left in the game. But instead of a pass to win it, Glouchester QB Ethan Barber threw an interception to seal the game for the Spartans.
After an upset loss earlier in the day by Group C Bayley-Ellard at Montclair Kimberley Academy, 41-21, the longest win streak in the state now resides at Immaculata. "We're thrilled, but we'll be happier when we're playing for a state championship," said Spartans coach Dark Cloud. Senior QB Ernie Burnett had another solid game, going 18-30 for 296 yards and 2 TDs, without an interception. RB Heath Kocurek had another 100 yard game (117 total) and a TD. Next week, Immaculata heads to Richland to face St. Augustine Prep, who have yet to win a game this season. The schedule just gets tougher at the end for Immaculata, who will essentially have a state-tournament preview in the rest of the teams they face. After next week's game and then a week off, they'll face off against #41 St. Paul VI, then take on #21 St. Joseph Regional. The last two games of the year, provided they win every game up to then - it's certainly expected - will be the real test. They'll take on #10 Queen of Peace, who they lost to last season 10-3. Their final regular season game will be against rival Dwight-Englewood who thumped the Spartans last year 42-9, en route to a Sectional Championship and an appearance in the state Semi-Finals, before losing to East Brunswick. "We're not scared, just preparing for that. But we've got a few more tests well before we get there," said Dark Cloud, about his later opponents. He said there is a lot of pride among this year's seniors and "we're feeling like good things are going to happen."

WEEK 12 POWER RANKINGS
We had last week off, after the win over St. Augustine Prep.
There are just seven schools left in the state that are undefeated. And most of them will play each other. If I had to bet on a team that was going to go undefeated, it'd be Warren Hills, who are playing a really easy schedule, the lowest rated of any undefeated team and 15th easiest in the state this season. Ours is the 5th highest of the 7 teams, but that's largely due to our conference and the fact that we scheduled teams that weren't great as our non-conference games. But why lose those games anyway?

ST PAUL VI (4-4) @ IMMACULATA (7-0)
We're 22 point favorites according to the pundits from the Courier-News who are picking the game.
Senior QB Ernie Burnett is among the Top 20 passers in the state with a 167.3 QB rating. Campus is buzzing and while everyone is excited, I think we're setting up for a big letdown if the team can't manage to at least compete with Queen of Peace, who seem to be beating everyone - even if some of the games are close. Next week, we play #22 St. Joseph's Regional, who barely lost to Queen of Peace (37-35) and only lost their other game to Delbarton by 1 point. So, it'll be interesting...

IMMACULATA 38, ST PAUL VI 21
SOMERSET - 11 straight wins for the Spartans and the schedule just gets harder. The Immaculata Spartans, led by Senior QB Ernie Burnett who threw for 300 yards and 4 TDs, defeated St. Paul VI last night 38-21 at home.

ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL 34 IMMACULATA 28
And like that, the streak ends.
In what is becoming one of the new great rivalries in Private Group B, St. Joseph Regional proved they had the Spartans' number once again - they beat them 49-20 last season - and that an undefeated squad wasn't enough to stop them. "We're a much better team than our record indicates and we proved that tonight, against a really good team," said D.J. Hathaway, St. Joseph's coach. St. Joseph's improved to 8-2 on the season, but despite not being considered for the state tournament, the players said this was like "their state title game." "Those guys are like, the cream of the crop. To beat them, it says that we can be just as good when we put our minds to it," said QB Lenny Lyons, a senior who threw for 260 yards on 22-33 passing with 3 TDs and an interception. On the Spartans' side, the team showed that it hurting without their star running back RB Heath Kocurek who has 9 TDs this year and has rushed for 855 yards. Last week, Junior Ty Young filled in impressively in just his third start, rushing for 136 yards against St. Paul. But this week, he was stalled, rushing for just 28 yards on 14 attempts. "We're not the same team without our running game," said Immaculata coach Dark Cloud. Asked if he was worried about his team going into next week's battle against juggernaut Queen of Peace, he said no. "We're prepared for whoever, whenever and these men will show you what they're made of next week. Believe that," he said. A win next week, will clinch the Sectional title for whichever team wins and most likely, the only playoff berth from Private Group B. "We realize what's at stake and we want it," said Dark Cloud. CALL THEM CHAMPIONS: IMMACULATA WINS PRIVATE GROUP B STATE SECTIONAL TITLE
IMMACULATA 28, QUEEN OF PEACE 14
Playing in front of a near-capacity crowd, the Immaculata Spartans got smart and allowed their passing game to lead them to victory over the heavily favored Queen of Peace squad, to capture the 2005 Private Group B State Sectional title and the automatic berth into the state tournament of champions. Senior QB Ernie Burnett played arguably his best game, throwing for 4 TD and 289 yards with no interceptions on 16-31 passing. "We needed him to come up big and he did," said Immaculata Head coach Dark Cloud. WR A.J. Fairley caught 7 passes for 150 yards and 2 TDs. Next week, the Spartans will face off against a deeply bruised Dwight Englewood squad, that has lost 2 of its last 3 games, to tumble to 19th in the rankings. Still, this rivalry game will not be easy and Immaculata needs the win to ensure better seeding in the playoffs. "This is the biggest game of our season, every year - no matter what. So we're pumped up and ready if we had to go on the field now," said Dark Cloud. Box Score: Queen of Peace at Immaculata Week 13, 2005 Attendance: 31,400 (31,900). #8 IMMACULATA 20 V. #19 DWIGHT ENGLEWOOD 52
The lack of a running game that helped solidify the Immaculata Spartans this year, is sorely missed. Dwight Englewood Senior QB Antoine Goddard proved to be too much for the Spartans going 21-36 with 4 TDs and 311 yards.
Penalties played a huge part, with Immaculata being penalized for 102 yards for 12 penalties. "That's just not acceptable and if we do that in the playoffs, it'll be a quick exit for us," said a frustrated Dark Cloud after the loss. With the regular season over, Dark Cloud said instead of licking their wounds - the team would regroup and come up with a solid gameplan for the playoffs. The brackets are to be released after Week 15 action this week. With the loss, the Spartans fell to #16 in the state rankings - unimaginable that the team would be even be there a year ago - but there was still a hint of disappointment in the voice of the coach. "We still have a lot to prove and I'm expecting they'll leave it all on the field as we make our run at a state title," he said.

Winning the sectional title, meant that we didn't have to play a first-round game, despite the two losses. That's a huge coup and gives us another week to recover and hopefully, a better shot at a win against whoever we have to face off against.

4-7 Bergen Catholic is in the playoffs, because they're playing in Private Group A, which is just the two independents. I messed up when I did that, but since they're a power school, it sorta makes sense that they're guaranteed a berth every year - or the other school Don Bosco Prep is - since in real life they're good.
I made all the conference and school things random, so it's not based on anything really. I just aligned them where they fit because it was tedious.

2005 NJSIAA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS - ROUND 2
So, we're playing Westfield. We have no common opponents this season. Their losses this season came from Kearny (46-42) in Week 7 and Dunellen (57-38) in Week 4. So, there is really no way to tell. If I had to gamble, I'd say that we could easily lose this one - and I expect it - but we could also win, like we did against Queen of Peace, where we really didn't have any business pulling the win out. If Burnett has a solid game and we can stop their QB Dean Price a senior who has thrown for over 4300 yards and has 49 TDs (and 20 INTs) this year, while Burnett has 3110 yards with 33 TDs and 12 INTs. It'll probably come down to a close matchup between the run game and turnovers. So, it's anyone's guess. I'm happy we made it here, but I'd love to see us get a lot farther. We're good enough, it's just putting it all together.

Ok, I have to do this for Ohio. Does the game naturally select 24 playoff teams?

IMMACULATA V. WESTFIELD - 2ND ROUND MATCHUP
WESTFIELD 34, IMMACULATA 14
The Dream Season Ends for the Spartans On paper, everyone knew it would be a reach. The high-flying offense of Westfield Sr. QB Dean Price facing off against Immaculata. In the end, it was no real contest. Price was 25-45, 360 yards with 3 TDs and an interception. Westfield Blue Devils had 499 yards of total offense, to Immaculata's 235. "Our guys left it all on the field and there isn't much getting around that," said Dark Cloud about his team's effort. The Spartans end their season at 9-3, but much improved from last year. With several key recruits joining the team next year, Immaculata should be retooled. "We're going to come back and fight hard. You can be sure of that," said Dark Cloud. Westfield takes on Dunellen next week in the State Quarterfinals. Box Score: Westfield vs Immaculata Round of Sixteen, 2005 Attendance: 24,100 (32,100). WEEK 3/2006: PLAINFIELD @ IMMACULATA
SOMERSET- The Cardinals travel to Somerset for the first time to take on the Immaculata Spartans. The test will be a difficult one for the unranked Spartans, who will face a Plainfield squad that defeated Newark Central 48-0 during Week 2.
"We're glad they agreed to come here. They're a tough team and we know they'll be a great test for us," said Immaculata coach Dark Cloud, who is a Plainfield alumn, but in tennis. "I always wanted to be a kicker, but I never had the courage to go out for it." he said. After losing 11 starters, Immaculata needs this game to see where they are compared to last year's squad that made it to the state Round of 16. "It's going to be an interesting game." Plainfield brings senior QB Alvin Sanderson to the field, who had 218 yards passing and 4 TDs in his first start. Running back Charles Burgess buoys the Cardinals rushing attack, he had 152 yards rushing in his first game. The untested starters for Immaculata had a great example with last year's squad. "We learned a lot, that's for sure." said Junior QB and likely starter Walter Fletcher of Immaculata. He has 5 TDs in 10 games played in his career, without an interception. The rushing attack also welcomes back junior running back Heath Kocurek who was injured for the last part of 2005 and missed the playoffs. He ended his season with 852 yards rushing and 9 TDs. "We're so glad he's back. He'll help us immensely," said Dark Cloud.

WEEK 3/2006: IMMACULATA 40, PLAINFIELD 16
Spartans put the state on notice - Last year was no fluke
SOMERSET - Despite being favored by some, Immaculata went into last night's game against #6 Plainfield, as the underdog. After all, they weren't even ranked going into the game. "We felt slighted. But I told the guys to show it on the field. And boy, did they," said Immaculata Head Coach Dark Cloud. The Spartans unleased a dual rushing and passing attack. New starting senior QB Walter Fletcher was flawless in his first start, throwing for 247 yards and 2 TDs, while rushing for 62 yards on six carries. "He brings a whole new dimension to our game," said Dark Cloud. Meanwhile, RB Heath Kocurek returned in full-form, running for 134 yards on 25 carries and 1 TD. "It was so good to be back on the field again...and to hear the fans," said Kocurek. Plainfield never looked like the team that made it to the State Final Four last year in the second half, despite being down just 24-16 at halftime. The Immaculata offense piled on 13 more points in the 4th quarter, to ensure victory and vaulted the Spartans back into the State Top 25. NEWARK - Another non-conference test, the Immaculata Spartans faced off against a favored Malcolm X Shabazz squad that had won its first two games by convincing margins. IMMACULATA 56, MARIST 0
The 19th ranked team in the state, the Immaculata Spartans easily handled the Marist (Bayonne) last night at home 56-0. But QB Walter Fletcher bruised his sternum in the game and is probable for next week's game. Junior QB Chad O'Neal relieved him and played well, going 6-12 for 73 yards and 1 TD. RB Heath Kocurek was solid, logging 14 carries for 73 yards and 3 TDs.
