The return of the 'Chan Ho Park sucks' thread!

In the fine tradition started way back by Horned Frog Purple, it is time once again to celebrate or denigrate the newly announced #5 starter for the world champion Phillies.

During the regular season, Chan Ho's line for games he pitches in the majors will be put into this thread.

For competitive reasons, people are allowed to post what they think CHP's final, end of year, major league totals will be. The closest guess wins the admiration and/or scorn of the other entrants.

Have fun!

They had a revolving door at #5 last year with Kyle Kendrick, Adam Eaton and JA Happ. If Park struggles he'll go to the pen and Happ will start.

Kendrick 11-9 5.49 ERA
Happ 1-0 3.69 ERA in 4 starts
Eaton 4-8 5.80 ERA

And anyone who thinks the Phillies will repeat as NL East Champs is delusional.

Chan Ho's career ERA with the Dodgers is 3.77, elsewhere it is about 5 and a half.

Lot of confidence in him from Charlie Samuel. He has Chan Ho walk Omar Santos to bring up Mike Pelfrey, and then makes the pitching change.

(Chad Durbin then gave up an RBI single to the pitcher)

I thik we'll see Happ as the number 5 starter soon. I think he showed some promise last year and was surprised that Park was brought in for it.

I think he was getting back at the team for NO RUN SUPPORT in that May 6 game. Sheesh. If Chan FRICKIN Ho Park is giving you a shutout, you better put up a couple of runs.

Splendid bit of relief last night. 3 IP, no hits. Held an undeserving win for Moyer (5 IP, 6 ER).

What better - Chan Ho Park or Pedro as SP?

Unfortunately, I think we are going to find out. Not a fan of a potential Pedro deal.

Report: Cubs interested in Chan Ho Park - Chicago Breaking Sports

The Cubs and the Tampa Bay Rays are among the teams eyeing free-agent pitcher Chan Ho Park, according to a tweet from SI.com baseball columnist Jon Heyman. Park was 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA for the Phillies last year and pitched well out of the bullpen in the World Series.

Even as a die-hard Rangers fan, I think Park has some viability as a mid-inning pen guy.

That being said, good freaking luck to the next team that signs him, and a pox on his house.

He's actually been pretty good out of the pen the last two years with the Dodgers and the Phillies. I'd have to go back and look at his starter/reliever splits, but he was HORRIBLE as a starter last year (he started for about the first month of the season), so for him to end of up with a 4.43 ERA is actually pretty good. If I had to guess, he probably had an ERA of around 3 in the pen last year, and got some K's in the process.

You could do a lot worse for a 7th inning man.

I agree. He was damn good out of the pen. But I guess he STILL wants to be a starter. Sigh.

I haven't really been following his progress this offseason, because once the Phillies signed Durbin, it was pretty much over for him here.

One of the issues with him last year was he really started to sulk when he had to go to the pen, even though he really excelled in that role.

The fact that he hasn't been a solid starter in what.. 5-6 years, and his best time recently has been that of a 7th / 8th inning guy really tells me what a POS this guy really is. He could care less about contributing to a team, and just wants the paycheck of a starter.

Fuck him, send him back to Japan.
