Minor league free agents

If we don't re-sign our minor leaguers who've been in our system for greater than 5 seasons, will they get released into FA?

This is the first time I've seen them pop up as potential FAs for me, so we must've just changed that setting.

It was a mistake from the start. It should've always been four years. But the game didn't let me change it in the season, only during pre-season. But then I forgot about it so we had it how it was. This year, I finally noticed it and fixed it to how it should've been all along.

So yeah, you get them for 4 years and then have to offer them a deal.

So if I have a guy who's asking for a deal next year, and I bring him up this year instead, will he then revert to the minsal and drop his demands?

I've also noticed that all of my high quality ML FA's-to-be are asking for $23 million per year.
Is that because so many irresponsible owners jacked up the league pay scale with ridiculous contracts?

I think that's how it should work.

Yeah, that's the reason. The good news is, when no one offers them money on the open market..then their demands drop. But yeah for right now, they're all demanding big money because that's the market looks like.

Hey Commish,
What would you think about doing away with minor league free agency, or at least letting us keep our minor leaguers for more than 4 seasons before offering a deal.
If we're drafting 16 year-olds, we have to offer them deals by the time they're 20 or we lose them.
That kinda sux.

We can push it to eight years.
