IWS #226 - Are you ready for some Stupid?; Results now posted!
Short turnaround for this one, responses due 11 AM Friday, September 5th.
The Rules The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game's, and indeed our very community's, most cherished and beloved progenitors and inspirational leaders, and also QuikSand. May we never lose our commitment to reverently speak their names and heartily toast their greatness. The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. For the mathematically challenged, product means they are multiplied together, not added. Highest score wins. Collaboration of any kind is strictly forbidden. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. There are no prizes other than everlasting glory and total consciousness on your deathbed, so the need to cheat shouldn't be an issue. All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring even the most trivial degree of judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and utterly inarguable, no exceptions. I summarily reject any suggestion of this structure as evidence of any personal character flaw. Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However... Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "Who will win the Big Ten this year?" and you answer "Michigan State" along with 9 other people, you each score 10 points, even though the correct answer is "Ohio State" ***************************
Spoiler
IWS #226 It's NFL time, so time for some football questions. 1. Which new rule will have the most impact to the 2014 NFL Season? 2. Which team will finish with the worst record? 3. Which RB will finish with the most rushing yards? 4. Who will win Offensive Rookie of the Year? 5. Name a city that has never hosted the Super Bowl that should. 6. Name a common mascot to other sports teams that is not used or represented by a team in the NFL. = = = = = There you have it. PM your responses to me, with something sufficiently clear in the title. Contest closes 11 AM Eastern, Friday September 5th. So don't screw around and read it and forget to submit, because this is a less than 2 day turnaround. I don't find that letting it linger for a week is really any more suitable to gaining more responses. Please help with the "snet" and other suitably amusing response-bumps to help keep the contest in mind.

13 entries so far... I feel like someone is going to swoop in with a late entry and take it down.
Why not you?

To showcase how little I follow football, my responses this time will be done with no aid from internet searching or asking others for assistance.

It's results time, and I'm not doing a brand new thread so there:
1. Which new rule will have the most impact to the 2014 NFL Season? I decided to lump a bunch of results of "defensive holding" and similar responses all into the "Illegal Contact" umbrella. Illegal Contact - 15 Unsportsmanlike conduct for goalpost dunk - 4 Low Blocks - 2 Domestic Violence, Trash Talk, Replay Fumbles - 1 2. Which team will finish with the worst record? Jacksonville - 12 Oakland - 6 Cleveland - 3 Buffalo, Seattle (at this point, I knew this guy was going for the single, but it didn't work out), NY Jets - 1 3. Which RB will finish with the most rushing yards? Adrian Peterson - 17 LeSean McCoy - 3 Jamaal Charles, Bishop Sankey, Emmitt Smith, Ray Rice - 1 4. Who will win Offensive Rookie of the Year? Thought Johnny Football or one of the other QBs would be the winner, but I was wrong... a late wave for Sammy Watkins won the day. Sammy Watkins - 6 Blake Bortles - 5 Brandin Cooks - 4 Johnny Manziel - 3 Bishop Sankey - 2 Derek Carr - 2 Peyton Manning, Michael Sam - 1 5. Name a city that has never hosted the Super Bowl that should. Las Vegas - 7 Chicago - 4 Washington DC - 2 San Francisco - 2 Seattle, Honolulu, Denver, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Charlotte, Miami, Buffalo - 1 6. Name a common mascot to other sports teams that is not used or represented by a team in the NFL. Tigers - 9 Bulldogs - 6 Wildcats - 4 Knights, Warriors, Reptile, Dog, Cats - 1 Quote:
You were ahead until this morning.... Quote:
Showcased. Observe the finishers: Jacksonville Jagwires (statistically zero percent) Code:
Cleveland Browns (less than 1 percent) Code:
Tennessee Titans (1 to 10 percent) Code:
Cincinnati Bengals (10-25 percent) Code:
San Francisco 49ers (25-50 percent) Code:
Seattle Seahawks (Winner!) Code:
Congrats to CU Tiger, who won the day by propelling Sammy Watkins to #1 Offensive ROY and also answering Tigers to the Mascot question! You win IWS#227... good luck!

Jamaal Charles eliminated me? I thought there would be more fantasy football players answering this.

Damn, eliminated for having the only correct answer to the first question. I also switched to Bulldogs from Tigers because of the Bengals. Should've strapped on my Stupid helmet more tightly.

No they shouldn't. Might I refer you to the IWS rules? Then can you show me where "dog" and "cat" are "common mascots" as the question asked? I'm guessing not.

i answered all questions to the best of my ability, and still scored lower than someone who was trying to get a 1. yes, michael sam is the only rookie i know.
related: when i read "are you ready for some stupid?" my first instinct was to sing it to the tune of "do you want to build a snowman?" rather than pick up the bocephian reference.

Congrats, CU Tiger.
I feared the Jimmy Graham rule would not be the #1 answer, but also felt I had to go with it anyway and hoped it had a shot at being in the running (which it sort of was).

It wasn't going to make a difference in the end to my result because of my other answers, but I didn't put "Tigers" specifically because the wording seemed to eliminate it from contention: "not used or represented." The tiger stripes on the Bengals (tiger) seems to definitively represent a tiger.
