Wanted CM 03/04 + Ebay questions

I'm looking for a copy of CM 03/04. I could buy it from GoGamer for $45 shipped but I'm always looking for a bargain - especially on software older than 6 months.

I looked on Ebay and saw a bunch for $15 - all from Asia. Are these legal in the US? Do they play any differently or have any compatibility issues? I'm just a bit confused - I really don't want to order an asian copy if I can help it but I will if I can save 50%. I really don't need the manual.

P.S.> Does anyone have a copy that they'd like to sell instead?

dola, got it, it was Senator who had that, and I'm pretty sure his copy is working nicely...

Here's the thread:

Also, for what it's worth, I own the French version of CM4. That is, the box has the French title on it, the manual is in French, but when you install, you can install in whatever language you want. I'd assume it would be the same with an asian version...

double dola, to Colonel, can't help you with the difference between both version as I only have CM4. Got it in the bargain bin around here. Next version I'll buy will be FM2005.

Basically, CM 03/04 feels what CM4 should have felt like. It is much more polished and stable, and most of the odd things the game engine did have been fixed. I had a good time with CM4, but never felt quite right about some of the goings-on in the game. With 03/04, it just feels right.

yes, ice4277, what, in particular, didn't feel right in CM4?

I'm curious, as CM4 is the first version of CM that I have ever bought and I'd like to know what I'm missing out on by not upgrading to CM03/04. Thanks in advance.

i've played the last several versions of CM and always loved them and played them to death. CM4 came along and was a complete re-write of the engine and it didn't feel right. I couldn't really get into it for various reasons. Then i picked up CM 03/04 and it was like the CM i knew and loved. I haven't really stopped playing it to this day. It is a great game and far better than CM 4

FM,

One big issue was the morale bug. I don't know if there was ever a patch released that fixed it (I don't think there was) but basically, morale was skewed in favor of your team so that it was almost always 'excellent'. This would lead to your team consistently winning games very easily. I'm not sure if this was the only factor, but I stopped playing when I was undefeated 2 seasons in a row in the league, while losing just two games overall, both in Champions League. It made the game very boring after a while. Also, if I recall correctly, there was a problem with the match engine that heavily favored strikers in scoring goals. These problems have been generally cleared up, and overall, the game feels much tighter now. There were a couple other problems as well, I believe.

In your situation, you probably wouldn't even notice this, having never played the geam before. But I think that if you upgraded, you would notice a big difference. Hope that helps, probably not though

no, it does help. Maybe I would not see it at first, but I'd probably feel it after playing it for a little while. Anyway, the family budget is tight, so I won't be upgrading to 03/04, but I know what to expect for FM2005, which from everything I read should be amazing

Thanks again for answering.

oh, and I don't know about the morale bug. I play as Luton Town in division 2, and I'm losing very, very often, always on the brink of relegation... hmmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong somewhere

OK, I thought that may have been the case, but was it save-game compatible? I recall that my players all had maxed-out morale even after EP5. And if you know me as a CM player, you know it can't be because I am doing that well
