it looks almost like someone is pushing the sandwhich through the other side. that is the only plausible explanation for this trick. Since it would be hard to palm a handburger.

The one weird thing he does is pause for a while with the burger in front of the sign after it's been fully revealed. Presumably that's to give his partner a chance to conceal the opening.
