File is up. I'll run a larger file when I do the season, but I can't run the file from home because the game won't do it because my connection sucks.

NL Names St. Louis's Erickson Top Rookie
Sunday, June 1st, 1919: He's only in his debut season, but Eric Erickson performed more like a veteran on the hill for the St. Louis Cardinals and walked away with May's National League Rookie of the Month Award in the process. Last month this young hurler recorded 7 wins and no losses in 8 starts. He threw 66 innings, giving up 20 walks, fanning 52 and compiling a 1.36 ERA. Up to now Erickson has recorded a record of 7-4. In 15 starts he has fanned 86 batters in 115 innings with a 2.66 ERA. AL Rookie Star Shines Sunday, June 1st, 1919: Charlie Grimm's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Washington first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .364 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run. Grimm also scored 22 times and drove in 12 runs. This season Grimm is batting .356 with 69 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 35 times and has 21 RBI. Erickson Takes NL #1 Pitcher Trophy Sunday, June 1st, 1919: There's something about a young rookie winning the National League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Eric Erickson, a 24-year-old starter for the St. Louis Cardinals. In May, he topped off the month with a 7-0 mark and 1.36 ERA in 8 starts, tossed 66 innings, fanned 52 and held opposing teams to a .179 average. This season Erickson has compiled a 7-4 mark with a 2.66 ERA in 15 starts. |

Washington's Perritt AL Top Pitcher
Sunday, June 1st, 1919: When the Senators skipper wrote Perritt on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in May he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 2.20 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Senators star pitched 49 innings, fanned 30 and held opposing teams to a .181 average. For his excellent mound work Perritt was named the AL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This year Perritt has a 8-0 mark in 11 starts with a 2.22 ERA. He has given up 72 hits in 89 innings, struck out 46 and issued 26 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .217 batting average against him. |

Grimes Voted NL's #1 Rookie
Tuesday, July 1st, 1919: Ray Grimes was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's National League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting. In 27 games Grimes batted .366 for Cincinnati, slapping 37 hits in 101 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 17 runs and scored 18 times. So far this season Grimes has put up a .342 batting average with 111 hits, 4 home runs and 49 RBIs. Eddie Brown Named AL Rookie of Month Tuesday, July 1st, 1919: Eddie Brown proved to be one of the American League's preeminent rookies last month, putting up some sensational numbers to take the Rookie of the Month trophy. In June the center fielder for Detroit had a .447 average, stroked 34 hits, 1 home run, drove in 16 runs and drew 6 walks for a .482 OBP. On the season, Brown is batting .345 with 1 home run and 31 RBIs. He has played in 66 games. Erickson Grabs NL Top Pitcher Trophy Tuesday, July 1st, 1919: The #1 pitcher this past month in the National League was Eric Erickson of the St. Louis Cardinals. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing June with a superb 6-2 record and a 1.38 ERA. The Cardinals star made 8 starts and surrendered 54 hits in 65 innings. He struck out 54 and walked 10. In 23 starts this season Erickson has compiled a 13-6 record and a 2.20 ERA. June's AL Top Pitcher is Senators Kellogg Tuesday, July 1st, 1919: Al Kellogg has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the American League Pitcher of the Month award. The Senators bullpen ace collected 7 saves and 6 strikeouts in 14.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .152 average and posting a 0.61 ERA and a 2-0 record. So far this season Kellogg has picked up 21 saves in 39 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 5-5 won-lost mark with a 2.78 ERA and fanned 22 batters in 45.1 innings. |

Grimes Wins Newcomer of the Month
Monday, September 1st, 1919: For the last thirty days he outperformed all the other newcomers in the National League. So it was no surprise that Cincinnati's first baseman Ray Grimes took the Rookie of the Month honors today. In August he hit .322 as he ran up some impressive offensive numbers. In 29 games he collected 37 hits, 3 home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Currently Grimes is batting .327 with 179 hits and 9 home runs. He has knocked in 79 runs and scored 81 times. Chicago Newcomer August's Best Rookie Monday, September 1st, 1919: The American League Rookie of the Month trophy has been awarded to Earl Smith of the Chicago Whales. Reliever Carter Chosen August's Best in NL Monday, September 1st, 1919: "The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games." Paul Carter put together a very solid month to take home the National League's top pitching honor in August. The 25-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 18 relief appearances he raked in 14 saves and 8 strikeouts in 16.1 innings as he put together his 1-1 record and 1.10 ERA. So far this year Carter has made 72 relief appearances with 47 saves, thrown 74.1 innings and struck out 55 with a 6-6 record. Orioles Vaughn August's Top Hurler Monday, September 1st, 1919: Hippo Vaughn's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-2 in August, the 31-year-old Baltimore hurler has been named American League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 43 in 64.2 innings, logged an ERA of 2.92 and allowed opponents to hit .260 against him. In 45 starts this season Vaughn has chalked up a 16-15 record and a 2.84 ERA. Only seems to work on one connection, the main file. Otherwise, can't get it to do it in-game. Soooo strange. In any case, I'll have to upload a shell of itself file in the meantime, I guess. I dunno what else to do about it, save for sit at a particular coffee shop when it comes time to run the file.
I'll keep thinking of solutions, but curse German engineering in the meantime. |

Yankees make a second half playoff push with a team I thought would contend for a top 3 draft pick. My pitching must have overachieved.

Nice to see the Cardinals back in the postseason. Congrats to the other playoff teams.
Thanks DC! I know you mentioned it in a previous thread but the league is really starting to take shape. As we move into the 20's things will only become more fun.

Good luck to the others. Not optimistic, was 6-13 vs Washington in the regular season.

73-89 is better than I was expecting. Not really sure if I'm happy about it though because I still missed the playoffs by a considerable margin and now I have the 5th overall pick in the draft.

I had my 3 man on "always highest rested" and Eric Erikson started 9 out of the 15 playoff games. My 2nd pitcher Rogan started 5, and my 3rd guy McQuillan, managed to start 1.

Congrats. Washington made their first 1st round exit ever. Good job New York... When I last won it all I had a 4 man rotation set to always start highest rested and my 1 and 2 started all the games. It was a first round sweep and the championship went the distance. I expected a 3 man rotation out of it, but the 3rd guy never saw the ball.

I've run into that before, and stopped using "always highest rested". I had a Series back a few seasons ago where one of my pitchers and one of my opponent's pitchers pitched all but like one game.
