Formula One Racing

Does ANYONE know anything about Formula One Racing to help me out?

I'm working on a puzzle about Grand Prix Formula One racing but can't figure it out.

The puzzle is called DNF (for Did not finish)

On the page are 20 Grand Prix racetracks. I identified all of them by shape and noted their countries. They are also linked together like chain links in groups of 4. like rings. Although I've been told it has nothing to do with the olympics.

So here are the groupings. (ther ones linked together)

German Grand Prix
Monaco Grand Prix
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Singapore Grand Prix

Hungarian Grand Prix
Monaco Grand Prix
Korean Grand Prix
Australian Grand Prix

Bahrain Grand Prix
Chinese Grand Prix
Malaysia Grand Prix
Australian Grand Prix

Spanish Grand Prix
British Grand Prix
Indian Grand Prix
Italian Grand Prix

Chinese Grand Prix
Japanese Grand Prix
Hungarian Grand Prix
Canadian Grand Prix

There are 20 in all. notice a few duplicates (Australia, Hungary, etc)
and there are some letters duplicated (like India, Italy).
The groups of 4 don't seem to spell anything.

So ...I'm thinking there is something this list of 20 have in common. It isn't a FOrmula one season because there are duplicates. Maybe it is a particular race. And the countries represent the entrants of that race. And what is the olympics got to do with it. From what I can see, there hasn't ever been ao olympics with formula one race before and the first one is slated for 2014. Or is that wrong?

I got another hint that this has to do with this year's season. Hmmm.

Oh yeah the answer has to be a word or phrase. Or can be a name. (Was contemplating that this was some guys's record of all the times he did not finish (as the title suggests). But the fact that there are 20, so speak of a race. So can anyone help?

When you figure it out let me know. I've been watching for the last 15 years and it's bugging me! Also it can't be something to do with DNF's because the Indian and Abu Dhabi GP's haven't been raced yet. And it's not winners from last year, or winning teams from last year. Maybe it has something to do with the picture or how they're linked together.

there's my data. I colored the original drawing. and recording the data. I also named the tracks as what they looked like to me.

But I've been hinted this has to do with this year. Yeah I saw that INdia and Abudhabi aren't on the circuit this year.

I was looking at 2011.

the FROM and TO column above was also my own invention. To keep track of the tracks and where they were linked, I arbitrarily numbered them. then noted the FROM (F) and TO (T) tracks. That's how I found the groups of 4. I numbered them starting clockwise and going around the circle. THen dtracked the order of the links of 4.

One more things...here are the hints already given out:

Hint 1
If you're stuck in loops, you might never finish!
Hint 2
This image is actually a loop of loops of loops. Or do we mean laps?
Hint 3
So what's the Formula for solving this puzzle? You'll need to finish off each (clockwise) sequence, including the big loop's.
