KOBE without him this year, the Lakers wouldn't be even close to the playoffs. He led that team when Shaq was hurt
Either him or Garnett, but I gotta vote Kobe. |

Ben Wallace.
The Pistons are always close on the boards as a team, without him we'd be dominated on the inside all the time. |

Yeah strange Webber and Nowitzki are not on the list, they won't win the award but deserve a few votes

I voted for Wallace. Probably because of my Piston bias.

yes, yes they did
something like 14-16 I think. not sure, but I know it was sub .500 Granett has been without Terrell Brandon (who takes up $11 mill in cap space) all year, Wally Szczerbiak was out for a while, and when he was down there were other injuries such as Joe Smith as Felipe Lopez. And the Wolves had a winning record doing that stretch. Last edited by mckerney : 03-30-2003 at 09:42 PM. |

Kind of curious how Kobe has more votes than Shaq. That team doesn't make the playoffs without Shaq. Without Kobe all they don't make are a few extra ESPN highlights.

Based soley on value to their team.
1. McGrady I want to hear a plausible arguement that he isn't the most important player to his team. 2. Garnett The closest thing to McGrady for his team 3a. Shaq As long as he's the most dominant center in the world he's gonna make the top 3 at least 3b. Kidd Matches Shaq's value to his team, truely makes EVERY player around him better.

Even more interesting is that Garnett leads in the voting while Minnesota has slowly dropped as the season is coming to a close.

Now that the Regular Season is over, I'm going to say Congrats to Kevin Garnett, NBA MVP in my opinion.
He pretty much carried Minnesota to a 4th Place Finish in the West.. As for Kobe, heck he needed Shaq back in order for the Lakers to even qualify for the Playoffs.. I think that right there shows who the Most "Valuable" Player is on that team. And as for T-Mac, although he's my favorite of the bunch, the Magic did finish up 8th in a bad Eastern Conference.. This team would've finished behind Houston, Seattle and Golden State in the West.. T-Mac has the ultimate "Carry Your Team on Your Back" situation, but you've got to go with Garnett this ear.
