Can't you go into your bios and make it recognize it? Like hit F1 or F2 when you're booting up or something and that will kick it into your bios. I haven't done it in a long time, so I can't remember which F? key it is.

Typing "windows xp boot disk" into Google turned up some promising hits on the first page, including a couple of Microsoft support links and one for a site with a whole bunch for download.

You're on the right track. The reason why you don't see an option for creating boot disks anymore is because you can do it from the Windows XP CD-ROM. By pressing F2, you can make the BIOS read the CD-ROM first and then it will go through the same procedure as it would a boot disk.

Now if you have a computer such as a Dell or Gateway, they may have a portion of the hard drive already setup for you to just access this through another function key. So if thats the case, see what it say at startup to access that portion of your drive.

If your bios can't see your 2nd drive and XP can't recognize unpartisioned space on the 2nd drive, you haven't connected it properly.

Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Disk Management

That should lead you to your drive that you want to format.

Fat32 is great if you want the stability of Windows Millenium and the security of Windows 95.

But to be safe, I'd go with NTFS as well.
