1. USC -- signed nine of the top 45 players.
2. Florida -- Meyer gets a great class, but lost two blue chips late.
3. Georgia -- Nabbed top-rated QB Matthew Stafford.
4. Oklahoma -- Met biggest need with 9 offensive linemen.
5. Florida State -- Signed 7 undecided 4-star players.
6. Texas -- Highest-rated LB Sergio Kindle leads class.
7. LSU -- Lost 21 seniors but got balanced group of recruits.
8. Notre Dame -- Best class in at least 10-15 years
9. Penn State -- Added 7 on the D-line and top CB
10. Auburn -- Loaded up on the D-line and at WR

First was the big Peach Bowl loss, then there was the firing of four assistants, now a lacklustre recruiting class....anyone want to speculate that Miami's Larry Coker might be on the hot seat next season?

They were #45 nationally with a couple 4 star recruits at RB and WR. Pretty good class IMO.

Very nice, sounds promising. I was just reading over a couple of profiles on scarletknights.com. I'm only disappointed with the apparent lack of DB help.

Not really true. Zook landed the #4 class in 2003 and #8 class in 2004 by Scout.com rankings. Zook recruited well.

I would submit he was already going to be on the hot seat prior to yesterday

Washington lands the #35 class according to both Scout.com and Rivals.com. Not bad for a team coming off of 1-10 and 2-9 seasons. Losing OL Steve Schilling to Michigan and RB James Montgomery decommitting and going to Cal hurt, but we still landed a stud QB and the top in-state guy in Jake Locker and some pretty good linemen. Now we just need to hope Locker doesn't go into pro baseball like previous UW QB commits Grady Sizemore and Matt Tuiasosopo.

Let's not forget that Florida lost 4 big-time prospects late that they had verbals from. So if they would have landed those 4 guys, their class probably would have been #1.

The problem was that the two biggest DB studs in NJ (who also happened to be the top 2 players in the state - Myron Rolle, FSU, and Antwine Perez, USC) have been locked into their schools for a while. At least, RU never even had a chance with them. After them, the in-state prospects in the secondary were limited. We did pick up some nice out of state prospects though, in Zaire Kitchen, Julian Hayes, and Kevin Holloway.

We loaded up on some great WRs (Kenny Britt, Shamar Graves, Tim Brown most notably) and a bunch of LBs who will either stay at the position or shift to DE or S.

Very happy with the class.
