looks like a typo in the heading for All-Area Christmas Wyldlife club ... there's an L missing there.

I gave up on it for now. Not enough time this morning. Oh, but later.

Looks great, but I don't see any information about when and where I need my sleeping bag.

In unrelated news, the upcoming calendar is very useful -- by looking at the dates Ben is away at training and at camps we will know exactly when all of our nutcase trolls will go into Operation Meltdown mode and spazz the board out. It helps to have a schedule.

Trolls, beware. We now have wireless internet at all of our camps.

It's a great game. They actually are getting gummi worms out of a chocolate-filled diaper, no hands allowed, of course....

Everything looks fine. The green text is dark enough to read. But what is up with that one kid that looks like a young Bobby Brown on the 2nd page, 2nd column? I had to do a double take and wonder if you just scanned an old picture when New Edition was going through Georgia or something.

Look for him playing on Saturdays next year. That's Dwayne Harris.

Not too bright (if by "bright" you're talking about the colors and such). My feedback would be that the text seems a bit crammed-in, what with all the heavy underlining and the border for each page. It's a little easier on the eyes when you give the blocks of text a bit more room around them.

Which is more desirable (as in which one do you think people are more likely to actually read)--a four-page newsletter that has more space, or a 3-pager that is a bit crammed-in? My thought would be the less pages, the better, but I'm certainly not sure about that one.

Not sure. For my part, the bigger issue is how easy it is to read the newsletter rather than the overall length of the thing. IMO the difference between 3 and 4 pages is more than offset by easier readability.

Is this strictly an electronic distribution, or do you also print these out?

It is pretty much all electronic. It goes out on most Mondays to a distribution list of around 180 people (current and former volunteers and board members, key donors, key parents, pastors and youth pastors in the community who've asked to be updated). I know of a few people who print it out and put it around their office/home/church, but that's not the main purpose. This week's was, by far, the longest one since I started doing the PDF's back in August, primarily due to the long reading at the end and the Christmas motif. It is typically two pages long (recent ones can be found at this link), and some of my volunteers don't even read that much. Frankly, I don't care all that much if donors and former board members/leaders read every little tidbit; I just want them to see pictures of smiling kids, and to keep us in their prayers. However, there is time-sensitive info in there virtually every week for current volunteer leaders and board members, so I'm trying to do everything I can to get them to actually read it--thus the very colorful stuff this week and the admittedly-cheesy winning-a-prize-for-reading-to-the-bottom-of-the-article promotion.

Golden opportunity missed.

I spent basically all day Thursday traveling from here to Colorado Springs, and all day today coming back home. It was COLLLLLLDDDDDD out there. Sheesh!

That's four hours south of here. And yes, it does get cold in these parts. It's funny how much I'm used to it compared to when I first got here. That said, I miss the warm weather more than anything.
