Talking Customer Service All-Time Low???

This probably should have made me furious. Instead, it just made my intern and me crack up laughing...

We went to lunch today to go over some training stuff, then went to check out the new "Atlanta Fun Center," an entertainment venue with bowling, video games and karaoke, that we're considering giving several grand worth of business.

We walk in to the place, and no one is at the counter where one would normally rent lanes and get bowling shoes. After a minute or so, a woman appears and asks if she can help us. I say, "I'd like to talk with someone about renting some lanes out this weekend, and also about renting the entire place out next fall."

"Sure! Wait just a minute."

She then proceeds to leave the counter area, walk over to the bowling area, put on a wrist guard of some sort, and bowl! She missed the 10-pin on the first shot, was unable to pick up the spare, walks back PAST the counter where Troy and I are standing (and giggling), and into the back where she goes and gets a guy who helps us with this weekend's event. While we're standing at the counter, we notice a business card for the promotions and group sales director sitting there, so both of us get Susan Dawkins's card. We finish getting the lanes reserved for the weekend, and then ask the guy about next fall. He says, "You'll have to talk with Sue about that." Then, he turns around to look at the chick that didn't help us initially. She's still over there bowling, of course.

Now, at this point, what I would EXPECTED to happen would have been something along the lines of: "Hey Sue, you mind doing a little WORK for a change? These guys might be willing to drop a few grand to rent this place out. The least you could do is put your bowling ball down and see if they are serious."

However, this isn't how things happen at Atlanta Fun Center. No, lackey-boy walks out of the booth, close enough to check the screen above Sue, and comes back and informs us that Sue should be with us very soon, because she only has two frames left.

Wow, I gotta admit that they've got balls.

Troy and I just rehashed the story to each other, and spent the better part of 5 minutes cracking up.

Quality control is one of the most important aspects of your bowling experience, she knew that you probably would have been more upset if she ignored the lanes and helped you.

Just a few lanes for this weekend, but not for the big event in August. We'll stick with Malibu Grand Prix unless something better comes along. As far as this weekend goes, it isn't worth driving to Gwinnett or Dunwoody to get to the next-closest bowling alley.

Maybe she was just afraid of getting "Munsoned" by SkyDog?

Which lanes in Gwinnett do you go to? If it's the one at Spalding and Holcomb Bridge let us know - it's only about 10 - 15 minutes from where we live

That's the closest one to Tucker, the last time I checked. We're not going there this time, though. There is, however, a chance we could on Friday, August 18th....with around 150 of my closest high school friends.

FWIW, I learned from Antmeister that real men don't giggle. He blasted me for typing "hehe" on COH, so I switched to "heh heh" as more of a Mr. Burns type laugh.

Cool - those are nice lanes, we've been to many birthday parties there. If you go, PM me and we'll stop by and say hi - after we call you ahead of time and have you meet us outside so we don't have to endure the screaming mob of high schoolers!

Wait - won't there be HS football going on by that time? Or no? Maybe a couple weeks too early????

Question:

Is this a pic of Hootie in the Burger King commercial, or is it Ben wearing a bowling shirt?

There's an AMF in Chamblee, right off of 285... that's not easier for you to get to?

For me personally? Yes. For the people that live in Clarkston and Smokerise? No.

We do an all-night lock-in on the first Friday of the school year. It doesn't start until around 11pm. We go to Malibu Grand Prix from 1am-6am, and we always have to find something to do from 11pm-1am. This year it was ice skating. (You haven't lived until you've watched D1 athletes stumble and bumble on ice skates, btw.) The year before, it was Q-Zar. We were looking at potentially doing the whole lock-in (as in 11pm-6am) at this new place in Tucker, but ol' Sue didn't exactly impress me today...

I'll let y'all know, regardless.

Malibu Grand Prix is very cool when they're on top of things enough to have the batting cages up and running.

Where the heck did you take kids to ice skate? The only place I can think of is the one up at Gwinnett (where the Thrashers practice, IceForum or something like that), was it there or is there somewhere else I don't know about/not thinking of?

At Tech we used to play at "South Lake" or something like that, which I think was North of Atl.

You're not going to go inside and count how many kids brought sleeping bags? What kind of FOFCer are you?

What the heck is a Q-Zar? Is it a place where you jump up and down on blocks that are stacked in a pyramid in order to change their color, or what?
