GTA: vice City
I blew off 3 inches of dust from the old PS2 and started playing this again recently. I forgot how great of a game it is.
Anyway, maybe I have gotten too old for these games, but is this game nearly impossible to complete without using cheat codes? Wthout using either the health, weapons, or lower wanted level cheats (sometimes more than 1), I would not be able to do more than 25% of the missions, ever. As it is, even using cheats I need to repeat missions dozens of times. I still have only completed 39% of the game. Also, what about hidden packages, rampages, and unique jumps. How could anybody possibly do all this stuff without a help guide?

I too have trouble getting through these games. But then I don't have any cheats to help either. That mini-helicopter bombing mission took me a ton of tries. Still a fun game. I'm planning to get back to it after finishing Ratchet and Clank (which kicks ass, by the way).

I easily spent 2 hours on that helicopter bombing mission. there are no cheats that I know of for that one.
A lot of the gun heavy missions I need to cheat on, but it still takes me numerous attempts. I was finally able to collect all of the cars on all 4 lists after buying the Sunshine Auto Showroom. I drove around for hours on end looking for those damn cars. Anyway, now that I have that stock car, I can do the entry fee races. Sweet!

That game is amazing...I was never a big fan of the GTA series (they were really fun for about an hour or two...then they got really repetetive and boring), but GTA3 was a vast improvement, and then Vice City is one of the best games I've ever played. They do an incredible job of immersing you into the game world.
My question to you all is how in the hell do you do the 'Chaos Meter' mission from the biker gang? I can never get the meter more than about 1/20th the way full, and I always get the cops right on my ass, and if I don't die practically immediately, the time runs out. It's the first mission I've been really stuck on...as I've done it a million times and have not even gotten close on any try. PS - Marmel, if you're ever in need of money, use the stock car and run the long race...it's a piece of cake with that car (just take it a little easy so you don't blow up), and there's a huge payout for it. Although, once you have all the lists completed and the Car Dealership gets something like $8,000 a day in profits, money isn't really an object anymore, unless you're buying property.

Thanks Vince. I have over $100,000 and I am collecting some good money daily, but I still have some places to buy, including the $120,000 Malibu Club.
for the Chaos Mission, I had to cheat. I created a Rhino Tank. It still wasn't that easy for me. I had to go back the next day to finally fill the meter. Many attempts, even with the Super Destructive Tank.

For the Chaos Mission: I used a flamethrower and destroyed Cars. Destroying cars seemed much more effective than shooting people.

I actually quit playing b/c of the mini-helicopter mission. Just not much fun.

I can't beat the first Malibu mission. The cops come from nowhere, and kill me or the guy right away. I think I might try something new for it though, so I might be able to get it down. The mini-helicopter mission was easily the toughest and most frustrating one, and when i finished it I almost cried. How I did it was I went all the way to the top, and made my way down. My first attempt I couldn't figure out how to get to the upper levels, and then add in that it's hard to drop the little bombs, I almost quit, but then I beat it and it was smooth sailing. I use cheats on some missions, but others I kind of like the cops chasing me. And BTW it's a great stress reliver.

that's the trick right there. you drop the bombs at the highest level first- that way as time starts to run out you don't have to navigate all the way to the top - you just go to the lowest level.

I didn't even beat VC, I think I just played too much of GTA3 to enjoy VC as much as I should have.

I suck at Vice City. I haven't played in a couple of months, but I got stuck at the kill the golfer on the driving range mission. How sad is that?

Yeah I hear that the PC version is going to be really great. The resolution should be alot better on the PC than the PS2 version. Does anyone know if they are going to "ADD" anything to the PC version or is it going to be a direct port from the PS2 version.

Its been a long time since I played, but for any trouble head on over to www.gamefaqs.com . The forums are horrible but the tips in the faqs that people write are great.
The only mission that frustated me to the point of quiting was the last. Very, very hard. The helicopter mission took me a really long time but if you just keep finding ways to get better each time, you will get it done. |

Wow. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the helicopter mission was hard. I figured I just sucked, and somewhat gave up on trying to do further missions, figuring they would only get harder and more frustrating.
