FOF4: New Orleans Saints 2002
Here is my FOF4 dynasty that will run concurrent with my Richard Stockton dynasty. Since that dynasty has a 2 year head start, let's get the ball rolling.
First the house rules: 1) Only offer two non-team players a contract during FA per week. 2) Can only renegotiate the offered contract once. 3) No using the franchise tag 4) Use judgement with trades, don't accept lopsided trades. That's all for now. If it gets easy, I'll add some more. |

2002 College Draft
Our first pick left some tempting players. I thought about picking CB Quentin Jammer (32a 68p), DE Dwitch Freeney (37a 69p) and DE Akin Ayodele (26a 68p). I needed a DE too. But since Brooks is a good QB, we have Duece McAllister, TE Shannon Sharpe and WR Joe Horn, plus I got a few solid OL players in Ron Stone and Ray Brown, I decided to go for the full offensive powerhouse. Our 3 remaining WRs were horrendus so I wanted to put a capable WR on the other end of Joe Horn. WR Donte' Stallworth (45a 70p) was still available, so I went with him. 2002 College Draft Round 1 1. Houston - Williams, Mike, T, Texas 2. Carolina - Edwards, Kalimba, DE, South Carolina 3. Detroit - Carr, David, QB, Fresno State 4. Buffalo - Pitts, Chester, T, San Diego State 5. Our FS Jay Bellemy is OK, not great. So with out 2nd pick in the draft, we took FS Jon McGraw (31a 72p). 2002 College Draft Round 2 33. Houston - Foote, Larry, ILB, Michigan 34. I was worried that if I did not start McGraw, he would not develope, so I'm starting him over Bellamy. Bellamy will see a lot of playing time, though, as I am making him my nickel back.
Number of draftees starting: 6 of 7 The 7th player is my 3rd WR who will see playing time. |

Week 1
New Orleans Saints (0-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) Tampa Bay is favored by 3 TB get the ball first and go three and out. We get the ball at our own 31. A 16 yard pass from Brooks to Horn get us to midfield. Then McAllister gets the ball and runs around the right end and takes it to the house! His first run of the season goes for 53 yards and the TD. Saints lead 7-0. Tampa Bay gets the ball and Johnson goes to work. 3 passes for 18-20 yards (2 to Keyshawn Johnson) and TB is at our 23. Then our D steps up with an interception by Clemons and he takes it for 56 yards down to the Tampa Bay 28 yard line! Almost turned the ball back over on a McAllister fumble, but we recover it. From there, it's easy. A few plays later, a 5 yard TD pass from Brooks to Stallworth ofr the TD. Saints lead 14-0. TB gets the ball to midfield. THey stall and on a 3rd and 14 we intercept the ball again! This time it's Knight (0 yard return). McAllister again with a huge run! This time for 47 yards and the touchdown! Saints lead 21-0 in the 1st quarter. McAllister already has over 100 yards rushing. Tampa Bay on their next drive get it together. They go the distance, mostly on the arm of Johnson and get in for a 2 yard touchdown run by Alstott. Saints lead 21-7. Another Saints drive ends in another Saints touchdown. This time on a 14 yard pass from Brooks to McAllister. Saints lead 28-7. On the next drive, Tampa Bay converts on 2 3rd down conversions to get down the field and kick a 35 yard FG. Saints lead 28-10. The Tampa defense finally gets it together for the next drive. After we gained a first down, Brooks gets saick to make it 2nd and 17 and we can't get the first and punt it away. Tampa Bay then gets the ball to our 39. Johnson tries the bomb to the endzone, INTERCEPTED! Knight for his 2nd interception on the day and he returns it 97 YARDS for the TD! Saints lead 35-10. Tampa Bay puts together a 2nd minute offensive drive and gets it done. With 6 seconds left, they fack the FG and Gramatica throws a TD pass to Johnson! Half Time score: Saints lead 35-17 We get the ball and go nowhere. Tampa gets the ball and Johnson is picked off again. This time by Smith and again we return it for the TD. THis time for 40 yards. Saints lead 42-17. On Tamps's next drive, Johnson is once again picked off. This time by Allen. We get down the field and score on a McAllister run. Saints lead 48-17. FOr the rest of the game, Tampa Bay turned it over 3 more times. Both teams would add a FG to their scores. Final Score: Saints win 51-20 We ripped that defense apart. But their D could not help the massive amount of turnovers. 6 interceptions and 2 fumbles for a total of 8 turnovers. Blake did throw one INT as he was in for a few plays. McAllister ran for 142 yards on 14 carries and got 3 TDs. Brooks was 20-27 for 160 yards and 2 TDs. Keyshawn Johnson did all he could for the Bucs. 10 catches for 160 yards and 1 TD. As for the rookies, here's how they did in their first NFL game. Dante' Stallworth had 4 rec for 39 yards and 1 TD. |

Then, we get an interception and drive the field and get a 26 yard FG to make it 13-3. Half Time score: Saints lead 13-3 Green Bay gets off to a good start by driving the field and scoring a TD on an 8 yard pass from Favre to Driver to make it 13-10. We get the ball and drive the field only to fumble it on a sack. Green Bay gets it but doesn't do anything with it. The beginning of the 4th quarter saw another Brooks fumble on a sack. This time Green Bay is able to get a TD on a run play to take the lead 17-13. Then, Green Bay gets on fire. Brooks throws a pick and Green Bay scores a TD 2 plays later to make the score 24-13. We get the ball and can't do anything. Green Bay gets it back and scores again on a run play. The score is now 31-13 with 2 minutes left, and it would end that way. On the nest play, get a holding call against us that kills the drive. We get it back to the 21 yard line and kick the 38 yard FG to take the 3-0 lead. Chicago mimics our first drive. It goes a couple of plays, but then break it for a huge gain. This time it was Pritchett on a run for 53 yards. Their drive ends on a 28 yard FG to tie the game at 3. On the next drive, we convert two 3rd and longs only to stop short at the 33 yard line and miss a 50 yard FG. This gave Chicago good field position, but we make them go 3 and out. A few minutes into the 2nd, we fumble the ball and Chicago gets the ball at our 20 yard line. They get to our 7 yardline and make the 24 yard FG to take the 6-3 lead. We trade punts and then we get a long drive going. It lasts over 4 1/2 minutes and with time running out in the 2nd, we kick a 25 yard FG to tie the game at 6. Half Time Score: Tied 6-6 The 2nd half starts off with a good drive by Chicago, but it comes to a crashing halt as Thomas picks off Chicago QB Kelly and takes it the distance. Saints lead 13-6. They get the ball back and do nothing. We get the ball and drive the length of the field. Our drive lasts almost 6 minutes on 15 plays and 92 yards. It ends with an 11 yard TD pass to McAllister. Saints lead 20-6. The rest of the game, Chicago would do nothing, and neither would we. A couple of penelties killed a few good drives that could of led to use blowing this one out. But it didn't matter. Our D stopped them cold. FInal Score: Saints win 20-6 |

Week 4 Game
New Orleans Saints (2-1) at Detroit Lions (0-3)
Saints favored by 4 Attendance: 61,900 (65,000) Weather: 68 degrees, fair Detroit gets the ball first and they get off to a grerat start. However, our 3rd round pick LB Smith picks the ball off and gets our O the ball. But then our O goes 3 and out. On the first play of their next drive, Glover sacks Batch and Batch fumbles! Hand picks up the ball and returns it 36 yards for the touchdown! We take a 7-0 lead early. They get the ball back and quickly the tie the score on a pass to Herman Moore to make it 7-7. On our next drive, we get a big play. A pass from Brooks to Stallworth goes for 48 yards and takes us to their 10 yardline. On the next play, McAllister gets in on a run. We lead 14-7. Detroit goes 3 and out. We get the ball. On a 3rd and long play, Brooks throws a pick at midfield. Detroit gets down to our 17 and miss a 34 yard FG. We trade punts. Then we put together a 4 minute long drive on 12 plays for 53 yards. The drive ends inside the red zone and we make a 29 yard FG to make the score 17-7. We trade punts until about a minute left in the half. We gotr the ball at midfield. A 19 yard pass to Stallworth gets us in field goal position. A few plays later we get it to the 24 yardline where Carney nails a 41 yard FG. Half Time score: Saints lead 20-7 We get the ball. A great kickoff return puts us at midfield. A big pass from Brooks to McAllister gets us deep into their zone. We get a 1st and goal at the 2 yardline. 3 times, the Lions defense stuffs McAllister for no gain. We have to settle for the 19 yard FG to make it 23-7. We trade punts until we put together a 6 minute long drive that ends on 31 yard FG being made to make the score 26-7. They go three and out. The next drive is a 6:27 long drive that ends on a 2 yard TD run by McAllister. This drive went for 13 plays and 63 yards. Saints lead it 33-7. On the first play of the Lions drive, they complete a pass to Hill but Bellamy strips the ball on the tackle and recovers the ball. We get the ball in great field position. However, Brooks gets sacked twice, sending us all the way to midfield and having to punt. On the second play of Detroit's next drive, Carter picks off Batch and returns it 39 yards for the touchdown to make the score 40-7 with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Final Score: Saints win 40-7 We're 3-1 and have been doing good. We beat Chicago convincingly and destroyed both Detroit and Tampa Bay. However, all 3 teams are horrible. Tampa Bay is 1-3 (after week 4), and both Chicago and Detroit have failed to get just 1 win. Green Bay is our only loss so far, and it was a pounding, and they're 3-1. A great start, but we haven't played against many great teams yet. As far as this game goes, our D dominated them. We only allowed 35 yards rushing and they cause 4 turnovers. Our rushing game was on, again, as McAllister ran for 133 yards. The biggest part of our offense are the long drives. In today's game, we had 4 drives that lasted 4 minutes or longer (2 of them lasting 6 minutes or longer). Detroit's longest drive lasted 3:56. Only one drive lasted shorter than a full minute, and that was right before half-time when we ran out of time and had to kick the FG. Detroit had 7 drives lasting less than a minute (not including the end of the game drive that started with just 20 seconds left). |

Damn it, I accidently forgot to back this league up and it got deleted. Well, at least I never made it far in this dynasty. I do hope to start this NO Saints/Richard Stockton dynasty back up.
Since a patch for FOF4 is a few months away (hopefully), I'll probably just wait for that to continue this. So I'm just going to go back to the Stockton thing for now. |
