Has anybody played Baseball Manager?

www.baseballmanager.com

Looks like an interesting twist on fantasy baseball. The 80 dollar game to win a 20 inch tv doesn't seem all that enthralling, but they have a version for 30 dollars that doesn't seem too bad. I especially like the daily headlines they send out each morning. Anybody have any experience playing the game?

So, does anybody here play this game? It looks pretty interesting and I'm dying to try it.

Enrollments haven't been opened for this season yet, but I'd be open to getting a league started if there is enough interest...

Fantasy sports are cool, but too time intensive. I have a hard enough time monitoring my stocks.

I'd certainly be interested, though i'm not completely sold. Just kind of reading over the Guide they have to get a better understanding, but it certainly seems cool.

Reading over it, I think that the $30 express version would be the level I'd like to play at. The "ultimate" version sounds cool (park effects, lefty-righty), but might involve too much micro-managing (and is really pricey)...

I ended up doing the express version last year.

Pros: Great Draft. They combine the salary cap and a draft and there is some real strategy as the draft takes place over a week.

Good Front page: Good headlines and box scores to easily see how you won or lost against the other team.

Cons: Obviously your mileage will very, but the league I was like the all mute league. Nobody talked with each other and one of the reasons for this is the message board software isn't very well intergrated.

The pitching aspect. Since you make daily changes the pitchers don't always line up correctly. What I mean is say you are starting Barry Zito for that days fantasy game, but he doesn't actually pitch that day. The game will pull a random Zito game from the year. It also does the same for relief pitchers. So you can watch your players all you want from that day but you won't know if you won until the following day because you are at the mercy of which game the computer picked for you.

Hope that makes sense. I would be willing to do it again, but I would have to be in a more active, talkative league. Hope I was helpful.

I played a mail fantasy game through scoresheet sports once that was somewhat like this, although they would do a weeks worth of head to head games at once and take the week's average and make the boxscores based on how you said to use your players (pitchign was the best with a hook number and a earliest to use reliever number). If a guy got hurt, they would move down on your depth chart, and if you didn't have *anyone* they would have a "AAA" player who was pretty bad fill in. It was pretty fun, but also kind of costly.

I signed up for the express version today. They are running a $10 discount offer right now, so it costs $20 to play. I set up a private league that I will limit for now to FOFC members who are interested. I figure that we might have to make the league public if we don't get enough players...

League #4009, if you're interested. And of course, league settings that we are able to change are certainly up for discussion...

Is CSFBL similar to Baseball Manager? CSFBL is the Computer Simulated Fantasy Baseball League. It seems to be the same sort of thing to me but it's FREE.

BOOOOO! You can't create a new team until your account has been active for 30 days, you can only "recruit" someone elses inactive team...

I think until we've been active for 30 days we can only take over inactive teams. Right now I'm trying to find a league that we could both join...

Yeah, sounds good to me. I'll be Irvine 'cause they're terrible. Plus they have a guy named Beerman that MUST be on my team!

Looks different--CSFBL is not a fantasy baseball system based on present day season real players. It kind of looks sort of like an OOTP but web-based and multi-player.

It does look pretty cool...
