Stupid F'in Moron!!
So a local IT company has been trying to recruit me to work for them. I agreed to an interview last week and had been awaiting word on a potential offer. This morning I get an e-mail from my current boss that just says "Call Bob at [insert ph #].
What is this clown thinking?!? Why on earth would he call my boss? I certainly didn't give him the number. I made it quite clear I didn't want word of any of this leaking out. I purposely only gave him my home phone number. To make matters worse, yesterday I had a doctor's appointment at 5:00pm. We had some crap hit the fan at work in the afternoon, but I couldn't miss this appointment so I had to bail and finish things up later in the evening. Now my boss likely assumes I ditched out to go to a job interview. I'm so angry right now, I want to call this loser up and tell him off. However, I know that's not the 'correct' response. So besides obviously upping my price by an exhorbitant amount, what should I do about this?

Actually, I would not bother to confront the new employer on this matter. If they get the impression that you have been compromised in your current position, and you are desperate to leave, they may actually lowball you.
In fact, this may have been their intent all along, in which case I would reconsider pursuing your career with them. |

There was a SNL skit where Christopher Walken hid behind a guy's car and then beat him with a crow bar.
If you know Christopher Walken maybe he'd do it for you.

Tell them to take their job offer and shove it. No way I'd consider working for a company like that. If they behave like assholes now, can you imagine how you will be treated as an employee?

Sounds like this wacko woman my work hired last year. She was told not to say anything to current staff, since she would most likely replace one of them. So she called literally 3 or 4 times a day for a week until she started. She lasted about 3 weeks before she was fired.
* I had no part of this process, btw. |
