Ever get the feeling Redskins' owner Dan Snyder plays FOF?
He's trading 7th round picks because the vet talent is better than anything he could get with a draft pick. He's only left with a second, third and seventh round pick after trading all of his picks away. He's spent every last dime signing his players. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the NFL's first FOF team! I think I have a few dynasties that resemble Snyder's management of the Redskins.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skins' free agent bonanza continues with Haley In their final plunge into a restricted free agent market that has been good to them this offseason, the Washington Redskins on Friday acquired restricted free agent defensive tackle Jermaine Haley after Miami opted not to match an offer sheet to him. The Dolphins' decision not to match the four-year, $3.95 million offer sheet was expected. The Redskins signed Haley to the offer sheet last Friday and Miami had one week to match. Because they passed on the offer, the Dolphins will receive a seventh-round choice as compensation. The deal leaves Washington with only three choices -- second-, third- and seventh-round picks -- in this weekend's draft. On the flip side, the Redskins feel that Haley, the fourth restricted free agent they have gained, is better than any seventh-round choice they could have made on Sunday afternoon. They now assume the terms of the offer sheet that Haley signed last week. The deal includes a $650,000 signing bonus and base salaries of $450,000 (2003), $650,000 (2004), $1 million (2005) and $1.2 million. The charge on the salary cap for 2003 is $612,500. Haley, 30, chose the Washington offer over one from Green Bay. He became expendable in Miami when the team recently signed unrestricted free agent defensive tackle Jeff Zgonina of the St. Louis Rams as the primary backup to starters Tim Bowens and Larry Chester. A former University of Washington standout, Haley was originally drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 1999 lottery, while he was still under contract to the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. He played through the '99 season in the CFL, then joined the Dolphins for the 2000 season. In three seasons, he has played in 43 games and started nine of them, and has 67 tackles, 2 ½ sacks, one interception and seven pass deflections. Haley is a big-bodied interior defender, strong against the run, and he will provide Washington a solid No. 3 tackle behind starters Dan Wilkinson and Brandon Noble, a hole the team has been trying to fill for more than a month. Before the Friday decision the Redskins had already acquired three restricted free agents this spring -- wide receiver Laveranues Coles, free safety Matt Bowen and kickoff return specialist Chad Morton -- through offer sheets that were not matched. The Haley offer sheet was the last outstanding one in the league. In all, five restricted players changed teams this year, as many as moved in the last two springs combined.

For a second there I thought he was insane and signed Charles Haley, but then I realized it was a different Haley. Of course, he is still insane...
