Myspace, otherwise known as a Dirty Old Man (I can't use the term I want to use)'s paradise. It's like a shopping mall for online predators. The amount of information that folks on there give to potential stalkers is mind boggling.. (I usually hear one or two stories a week on the news about myspace. If I ever have kids, myspace.com will=127.0.0.1 on any computer in the house.

I found the one you were talking about Skydog. Very inappropriate for a 17yo. My kid would not see the light of day for until they were 18 for posting something like that

If she's 17 and this photo is as bad as it sounds, wouldn't that mean that any of you who've looked for and found her profile have broken some laws? Age of majority in her state may not be the same as in others.

We had a woman come in to work and talk about what she found on her 15 year olds Myspace. There were pictures of drugs and all that junk that teenies love to yack about. Her daughter claimed someone "hacked" her Myspace and added them there, and how she trusted her daughter, etc etc and believed her etc etc blind parent mumbo etc.

I had to wait for her to leave the room before I pissed myself laughing.

I was into myspace for a bit, then ditched it. I'm back up again for the networking of bands and stuff. It's great for an engineer because even bands that don't have a decent website can post stuff for free. I've gotten gigs because of myspace. I do have a few chicks on there, but for the most part, it's all rock n roll.

You can get on it through an alumni account. I'm connected to tons of former kids who are in their mid-to-late 20's and are on Facebook.

For example, I posted the following message to the profiles of all of the high school kids that I have in my MySpace friend list:
Several kids who weren't previously involved saw the announcement on their friends' profiles, and showed up. Two of those kids who showed up for the first time to the Super Bowl Party have remained involved since then.

"Lisa" (who they are referring to) is not the one I'm referring to. I don't think I've met Lisa. Trust me when I say that you'll immediately know what I'm talking about if you see it.

well, her friend Tosha Nicola is rather hot and risque for a 17 year old, but nothing that would get you automatically boxed.

jeez, musta missed a doozie. oh well. hope it's just for attention (whatever this chick was doing) and not an indicator of something else.

yeesh. i gotta use my myspace a little more. it's unbelievable the amount of completely hot chicks there are out there. unfortunately i'm married (and apparently 10 years too old).

i still don't see this myspace thing as the phenominom it's made out to be. i guess it's for this generation what AOL chatrooms were for my generation.

She's probably not 18. There's an age cutoff where others can't see your profile if you're below a certain age. If she's a soph, she's probably 16. They increase their ages if they're at or below the age limit, so that everyone can see their profile, I assume. (Again, I'm guessing here. I'm fairly certain I've never met Lisa.)

I don't know about that. It seems to be changing the way that some communicate. As I mentioned in the other thread, a significant percentage (if not a majority) of the deeper questions I've gotten from kids in the last few months since I've joined Facebook and MySpace have been through those two mediums, even though every one of the ones who have contacted me that way have my e-mail address, mobile phone number, and know where I live. I don't fully understand it myself, but there's definitely *something* to it.

Pretty sure I found the profile that SD was referencing...

Really bad for a 17 year old to post that... To me it's probably very borderline for FOFC boxing if it was an 18+ female... so maybe I don't have the right one ...

Absolutely. Levi (no one calls him Allen) is a mentor of mine and a very dear friend. He gave me my first guitar when I was 18 years old and wanting to learn to play. We went to the same relatively small church and I was the youngest member of the college/career small group, and he was the oldest, so he took me under his wing. He's a simply AMAZING song-writer. Dat boy's metaphors sound so good...

Early in the morning of our wedding day, we had a worship service in the small chapel on Levi's property. He sang several of his songs there.

I love stuff like this that he does:

http://www.allenlevi.com/lyrics/where.html

Where the People Walk Backwards

(December 3, 1999) -- As I was reading one morning, this story popped into my mind. I'm not sure if it is a song or a childrens' story, but, either way, it's an attempt to understand what happened when God became One of us on that long ago night in Bethlehem.
There's a land where the people all walk around backwards
They walk around backwards everywhere they go
They are bumped, they are bruised, they are scarred and broken
And why they walk around backwards, they don't know
They stumble and they stagger into one another
They trip and they tumble and they all fall down
There's a dangerous cliff that they cannot see
And a lake at the bottom where the people drown

It seems they've always walked around backwards
They were backwards born, they are backwards grown
The little children learn it from their mommas and their poppas
And they're reluctant to leave what they've always known
Some did worse, some did better
They all got by in their backward town
They all feared the cliff and the lake below
But the people would fall and the children would drown

Then a stranger came to town and, to them, He walked .. Backwards
Strangest sight you'd ever see
But He had no bumps, so scars, no bruises
And He said this is how you were meant to be
If you'll just follow me, if you'll just turn around
You will see where you're going, you will not fall down
And you'll have no fear of the cliff and the lake
And you'll not tumble in and you will now drown

But the people got afraid and the people got angry
When He said come follow, everyone refused
They all got together and they did away the stranger
And they still get broken and scarred and bruised
But some, it is said, heard the things He told them
You can recognize their footprints in the town
And they stand at the cliff with the words of the stranger
You'll do fine if you'll just turn around

There still is a land where the people walk backwards
They walk around backwards everywhere they go

Colo. Police Use MySpace to ID Suspects
Mar 25, 6:58 PM (ET)

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Detectives used profiles posted on the MySpace social networking Web site to identify six suspects in a rape and robbery that began when a party turned violent, leaving blood "in almost every room of the house," officials said.

Six men were arrested in connection with the Feb. 23 rampage, and a seventh suspect was being sought, Detective Ali Bartley said Friday.

The victim, whose name was withheld, became acquainted with the suspects through MySpace, authorities said.

The group met for a party. "At some point, the victim was no longer aware of what was happening, and she was sexually assaulted," Bartley said.

She knew only their first names but their pictures were posted on MySpace.

"Primarily, we pulled up her friends list. It helped us identify some of the players," said Bartley.
