Go West, Young Man: A CIE Player Creation Thread
Ok class, you start a dynasty set in the 1940’s and before the Dodgers and Giants move west, what is the one cliché you must include? That’s right, the PCL declaring itself Major League! While this has not happened yet in the storyline, I figured we all knew it was to be.
The basic rules of creation are taken from metsgeek’s PLAUGE dynasty, and used with his permission. Full rundown of creation rules will be posted later today. The period for creation is from when the rules are posted to Midnight (CST) March 29, 2006. There is at this time no plans to have another player creation window. Readers can create as many players as they want, but each subsequent player created in a class will not have as many points to spend for creation. (so if you create 3 players, one from each class, there is no penalty to any of them. But if you create 3 'established' players, then the second and third will be penalized) Readers will have 3 classes of players to create: Established, expansion and Negro Leaguer. Each will have pluses and minuses. Established players will be assigned to one of the following: San Diego, Sacramento, Oakland, Hollywood, Seattle or Portland. Established players have the most points for creation, but must be at least 32 years old at the start of play. Talent equals ratings. Expansion players will be assigned to one of the following: Phoenix, yet to be named PCL club, Minneapolis, Columbus and Buffalo. Least amount of points for creation, but can not be older than 28. Talent is greater than ratings. Negro Leaguer can be signed by any club that is integrated. In the middle in terms of point for creation, no age restrictions. Talent is greater than ratings. Only a 10% chance player will be signed by a club. Details later.

Ok, later is sooner than I thought
Again, thanks to Metsgeek for his work on this
Note - You will be required to do some MATH Each player starts with a set amount of "dollars", with which to buy various attributes, according to the following charts Code:
Expansion and Negro Leaguer Ratings - Your starting ratings will be a percentage of your Talents. Your age will determine the initial rating percentage as listed in the chart below. Code:
Example - Your talents: 80/60/50/70/50. You decide to start your player at 23. Your % at 23 is 66% which would result in starting ratings of 53/40/33/46/33 (66% of the above talents rounded up). A few other things of note: Each subsequent player created in a class is penalized $25. Example: Your first 'established player gets the full $450, the second $425, the third $400, etc The players do not have to be ancestors. You may give them fictional names of your own. No stupid names, please...such as Dick Hurtz, Joey Bag-O-Donuts, etc.... This is my first one of these, I hope it works out.

Bump--will be out of town for a few days
Since there isn't a whole lotta responses, if you want to pick which city you would like to have your creation play in--I will allow that. If you have already created a player, go back and add that info. Expansion players can choose from: Phoenix, Minneapolis, Columbus, Buffalo and an as yet unnamed PCL city Established players can choose from: San Diego, Hollywood, Sacramento, Oakland, Portland, or Seattle

Just as long as my guy is nowhere near the Los Angeles area, I'm ok with that.

I'm putting together the "Spring Training" Rosters, here is where created players with no requested teams are:
Wally Klukas--Minneapolis Millers, will recieve an invite to the Major League camp. Given the youth Minneapolis has at short, there is a chance he could break camp with the starting job. Vince Cressio--Hollywood Stars, will recieve an invite to Major League camp. The Stars are probably the best team in the PCL, will have to have a great spring to make the big league team. Even if he doesn't, should be a quick call up if the tandem of Barlkey and Bartley don't get the job done. Rabbit Donovan--Phoenix Senators, will be at the Major League camp. Should make the club, but this could be the 27th best team in baseball, so I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing for Rabbit. Graham Walker--Buffalo Bison, uncertain if he will recieve an invite to Major League camp. The Bisons other big prospect is a corner OF slugger, and the age of the invited OFers leaves the door open with a good spring for Walker to make the team. The created players with teams specified are on the requested teams. In a couple weeks (real time) we'll have a better idea where the created Negro Leaguers will end up.

Brief outlook for created players for specific teams:
Owen Hunter, Columbus Clippers: The Clips went old, excuse me, experienced, for most of thier pitching signings. Hunter will start at minor league camp, I would say right now the Clips no. 1 pitching prospect could make a mid-season apperance, if the Columbus is out of the race. Maximus Meridius and Harley Gathers, Hollywood Stars: the main reasons the Stars are figured to run away with the PCL. The press and the fans have put the burden of winning on thier shoulders--can these two steal enough fans from the NAL Lancers to make the PCL viable in the LA area? Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Charlie Denton, Portland Beavers: Ever been a fan of a team that does dumb things? Like signing washed up Hal Trosky to compete with one of the top PCL firstbasemen, or going really cheap on the supporting cast. Both guys will have All-Star quality season for a .500 or worst team. On the plus side . . . I'm not sure what the plus side is. Anton Gogolak, Sacramento Solons: Anchors a very good infield. The club most likely to challenge the Stars for the title, but only if they can find some OF help. Rod Lockheart, San Diego Padres: Rod and fellow starter Al Brazle will be sueing the offense for non-support by mid-year. The Pads look to lose too many 2-1, 1-0 games to make the pitchers happy. Dashiell Spivey, unnamed expansion PCL club and Josephus Bricker, Achilles Brown and Winston Lafayette, Negro Leaguers: a little longer wait.
