Doug Eddings can kiss my ass.
Runners on first and second, grounder to Kent, who flips it to Furcal at 2nd base.
Throw pulls Furcal off the bag, but on his way down he diverts the slide of Hawpe with his ankle, and Hawpe never touches second base. Furcal realizes this, touches second, which SHOULD have been a force out. Doug 'Fuckface' Eddings rules that the throw pulled Furcal off the base, and thus, Hawpe was safe despite never touching the base. Die in a fire, Doug Eddings. |

Jesus Christ. Hawpe was a good three feet outside of the bag and wound up about halfway between 2nd base and the outfield grass before he got up. If Eddings was so far out of position that he couldn't see that, he doesn't belong in the god damned major leagues.
So pissed off. |

Aw come on, this is just payback for all the times second basemen and shortstops are given benefit of the doubt on double plays when they miss touching second by a foot or two and are still given the out.
Well, maybe not and this guy needs his eyes examined while Furcal should be commended for making a great heads up play, but it is a bit of a double standard in baseball. |

So when Eddings called him safe, did he make an obvious hand motion with an accompanying grunt, or did he wait until after Furcal tossed the ball to the ground to walk off the field?

I didn't see anything like that. What I saw was Furcal step on the base, look at Eddings, and Eddings make his call. |

I'll go for the knees first. He may still draw disability but at least he won't set foot on a field again.

Maybe Eddings made those hatchet calls in Milwaukee a couple of days ago.

Works for me.
He can be the white whale to our Captain Ahab. "He piled upon the whale's white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it." |

The problem, Rodney, is he appears to have taken that site to heart. Especially the part about mechanics.
That 'safe, off the bag' shit is exactly what he used to call Hawpe safe at second base, even though Furcal held the ball in his mitt, looked at Eddings, and touched second base before Hawpe ever reached the bag! |

I think Doug was the referee who called huve for pass interference.
