Ever another game like Front Page Sports Football Pro?

Don't get me wrong, I love front office football.

But there's something to be said about how great FBPro was (except for the online connection issues.)

Think there will ever be another game like this? Something like FOF but you design and call your own plays and watch the players run each play. You'd meet your opponent online and play against eachother... have leagues etc...

You'd think they'd have something like that by now!

have you tried Maximum Football?! haha

Seriously, I agree. I think the main problem is that most of the resources spent on gaming go towards the XBOX 360, the Wii and The PS3. PC games are kind of an afterthought. I keep thinking Microsoft will do something with the High Heat series as well, but it appears that is forever dead as well.

Haven't heard of maximum football? Does it allow for online leagues?

Silly answer: of course it does. It's infinitely customizable!

Serious Answer: Maximum Football aimed at being a FBPro style game. It had a huge feature list, promised you could play CFL Style, American Style, or Indoor style, and was a complete, absolute and total flop. Not only was the game delayed 2+ years, the game sucked, the stats were off, and there were glitches up the wazoo, and the creator of the game turned out to be.. less then personable about the method he provided support, both technical and/or personal in nature.

Search for Maximum Football, and you'll find a huge ass thread on the board. It's a funny thread, and will fill you in on what a horror show it was, but bring a lunch, it could be the first 3,000 post thread in FOFC history.

Maximum Football jokes aside, I think Football Manager has shown the way. A game like FPS clearly (at least in my mind) cannot be a one-man shop product. There are just way too many moving parts. And I wouldn't think there is enough market for a non-arcade style (or quasi-arcade) football game like FPS based on the size of the existing text football market. But FM has managed to have enough commercial success to support a considerably more complex development process than your typical text sim. I don't see why someone couldn't make a game like that for real football. Just look how many Americans who (initially at least) couldn't give a crap about soccer have bought FM... I wonder if developers aren't just scared off by the disaster that was the last several iterations of FPS.
