Wow, am I a geek (FOF Related)

I know it's been official for years, but wow am I a geek. I've been agonizing over some personnel decisions that I had to make in my latest FOF career. I hated the fact that I had to cut two players who have been on my team for over 10 years but both had gone downhill quickly, one due to a serious injury the previous season.

It's pretty sad when you get "attached" to a bunch of generated numbers. I guess that means I should give kudos to Jim for a job well done.

Sadly both players retired after that season not getting picked up by another team (as I expected). I kind of wish there was a way to maybe talk a player into retiring with your team when it gets to that.

I am already dreading the next couple seasons knowing that Vince Young will be retiring soon (drafted him in the allocation draft at the beginning of my career).

I'm currently in a situation where I have been forced to dismantle a great team I've developed simply because I can not afford everybody's demands.

In my current career, at one point I had 2 great DE's, 2 great CB, 1 great QB, and 1 great RB.

Now, the QB is off on his own, and won 2 Super Bowls (I lost to an extremely aggressive overture from the Bengals). One DE left for Dallas and recorded a 17 sack season, I managed to retain the RB (who's now too old), one DE, and both CB's are off contract now and I have to resign them or let them go (they are both very old now as well).

I still haven't picked up 2K7 yet but I get this way with my players in WSM, I even give them nicknames and cheer out loud when certain players score or make nice plays....Wife thinks I'm daft!

WSM and TBCB 2 are atually the reasons I haven't picked up this version of FOF yet, after playing the demo I know it will seriously compete for playing time with these two and I don't want to complicate my gaming life any farther

My wife thinks I'm crazy too as I yell at the computer screen when somebody blows a coverage or fumbles. I play slow and use solevision on all my games so I really follow my players.

Sounds like me with Buddy Everhart and Frankie Dosteyevsky from my 2k4 dynasty. I was really bummed out one day, and my wife kept prying and prying. I finally yelled at her (after telling her it was nothing), "Buddy just retired, okay? I have no clue what's going to happen to my team now!"

After that, whenever she sees me playing FOF and being glum or grumpy she just leaves me be.

I knew Vince Young and one of what was my killer defensive end book ends (sadly the most dominant of the two retired while he still looked to have several seasons left in him and caught me off guard big time) was getting near retirement so I went all or nothing to make the bowl this past season. Made it but came up short. One of the two retired (the defensive end as I thought as he was on a major rating slide the past two seasons) but Young is still going strong (you can count the number of players left in the league from the allocation draft on one hand at this point) so I am now trying to figure out another way to get him a ring before he retires.

I guess this is about when I need to be told to get a life....

When we're driving somewhere and it's quiet, she often goes with the ol' "What are you thinking right now?" question. For the last three weeks or so, the answer has quite often been: "Is my secondary gonna get toasted this season, or is there any way I can get a cornerback?"

I told my 4 year old yesterday, "The regular season is here and Willis McGahee finally ended his holdout, woo hoo!"

She rolled her eyes and said, "Daddy you love football."
