I've had it a few weeks. It looks great but is fairly shallow in terms of sport accuracy. The horse controll is also very dodgy and not very satisfying. Having said that I have heard the multiplayer horse races can be fun.
Other (and better in my opinion) horse racing games are: Hooves of Thunder (old but good) - American racing only. Starters Orders - only the demo is out but full version soon apparently - get it at www.StartersOrders.com - quite indepth though and probably not for you average FPS fan. There are some online games too but I havnt bothered with them. Bandit |

Not to do a COMPLETE threadjack, but did you keep a copy anywhere of that classic back-and-forth that you and I had right before TCY was released? (you know, the conversation between my wife and me....) I can't find it on the old board.

I tried the demo fo this one, but it only let you play jockey of a harness horse - not exactly a "demo" of the game that I want toi play. To see that it took until the patch to allow you to see a race with your horse without taking control of the jockeying is a backhanded clue (in my mind) that the "management" aspects might be second fiddle to the "joysticking" in which I have no interest at all.

bandit,
The Startersorders demo didn't impress me very much, although there isn't much you can do. Let us know if you get it and how it is. Thanks, Todd |

I too would be interested in hearing what people think of the game.
Skydog: Not sure. I remember you reposted it once or twice, which might be a way to find it on the old board. I'll see if I can dig it up, though. |

Todd - I have played a lot of racing games through the years and basically think there are two types of player types in this genre. Those who prefer the accurate simulation of form analysis, betting and the more detailed side of racing and those who want a more arcade type of expierience and are more concerned with the race.
I'm in the first group and to me the most important aspect is the ballance of going/distance/tactics etc. accurately reflected in the race itself. So I reckon if you dont like Horse Racing Manager you WILL like Starters Orders. And visa Versa. |
