Week 17 - Miami 20, Buffalo 14
Robinson stuns the Bills with two long TD passes in the first 2 minutes of the game, and the Dolphins coast to victory. Wesley had 296 yards and 2 TD's, while Shiver broke the 1,000 yard mark with only 217 carries on the year. Baltimore wins, so we don't get home field advantage, but we still get a first round bye.

Brohm has had a good career. He's 8th on the total wins list. Unfortuantely, he has not been able to win a Superbowl yet. Here's his player card..

2019 Playoffs - Divisional Round
Jacksonville at Miami We got off to a terrible start in this one. The Jaguars raced to a 21-0 lead on 3 TD passes from Greg Winslett (I hate him!). Meanwhile, our first four drives started off Punt, Punt, INT, Fumble. Finally, we got on the board when Wesley Robinson found backup WR Gilbert Small for a 26 yard TD right before the half. The momentum kept swinging our way in the 2nd half. Wesley directed a 9 play, 86 yard drive that ended in his own 3 yard TD run. Now we were just one score down. The defense played inspired football, forcing Jacksonville to punt on 7 consecutive drives. We finally tied it up late in the 4th quarter on a Leo Sharkey TD run. It was now 21-21 and after we pinned them at their own 3, it looked liek things were headed to OT. But Winslett completed passes of 12, 9, 22, and 6 yards to get in position for a 56 yard FG try. With 8 seconds left, the kick sailed through the uprights and our season was over. Notable stats: QB Wesley Robinson: 28-41 for 338 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT WR Gilbert Small: 6 catches, 101 yards, 1 TD OLB Archie O' Donnell: 10 Tackles, 5 Assists

Offseason Notes:
*No Dolphins retire this year. *Philip Rivers, Jason Campbell, Jeff Samardzija, Dwayne Jarrett, Eric Winston, Joe Thomas, D'Brikashaw Ferguson, Lawrence Tynes, Stephen Gostkowski, Justin Harrell, Michael Griffin, and Brandon Merriweather are among this year's retirees *16 real life players are left. Among them is Matt Leinart, who has suffered the dreaded Repetitive Concussion Syndrome and is out for 90 weeks. *Ben Roethlisberger will begin his 17th season. He now knows every single formation and has won one additional Superbowl ring (on top of the one he won in real life.) He has stayed loyal to the Steelers every year and has shown amazing consistency by never dropping below 80 for QB rating. *Legendary Head Coach Blaine Begian signs another 3 year contract, as do both of his assistants. *I haven't used the franchise tag in a long time, but this year I use it for TE Kerry Netter. He's only starting his 6th year and came off a terrific season. *DE Lester Winslett gets the Summer League invite.

*I renegotiate and extend deals with QB Wesley Robinson, TE Kerry Netter, S Ernie Jarvis, MLB Chuck McNiven, G Arnold Ellard, and P Riddick Chapman.
*New Dolphins signees include... T Barry Coleman - Will be a good Tackle to shore up depth on the line. Doesn't have a good Sack%, but is a decent run blocker. K Cory Numbers - A little stronger leg than Moln, but essentially the same. S Pat Lilja - A good young backup who could eventually be a starter. MLB Kennedy Bernstein - Only 3 years of experience, but still shows good potential. Will get time to develop in backup role. C Bernie Shaw - I let longtime Center Lenny Speers go. Shaw here is a youngster with good potential. He will have to step up qiockly and start unless I find someone bette rin late FA. Not a very active FA period, but there wasn't much available. Hopefully, late FA will have some better options.

The draft...
1(29) - QB Vernon Gunn, NW Missouri State It's time to start looking for a QB for the future. I don't think Ferrer is the answer. Gunn is very smart, is already 43% developed, and has superb scrambling ability. 2(30) - RB Korey Lynn, Youngstown State I always skimp on RB's, but it's time to get a reliable guy back there. Lynn is 63% developed, very underrated, and has great elusiveness. 3(29) - OLB Colin Goldsmith, Rutgers Has terrific all around potential. Could start immediately. 4(30) - DE Brett Hernandez, Florida State I desperately need a #2 DE. So desperately that I'm willing to take a guy from Florida State. 5(29) - DE Glen Logan, Oregon State Probably better than Hernandez. Logan was underrated with his low endurance, but has high potential elsewhere. 6(30) - OLB Donald Hardy, Illinois Could be a good run stopper if he develops. Will definitely be a project. 7(29) - WR Dan Moss, Michigan Has the best potential of this draft class. A big plus is he's very good at returning kicks and punts.

Late Free Agency
*We had a shot at a pretty good WR, but he signed witht he Packers instead. This maks us incredibly thin at the WR position. Our 7th round draft pick will be the #4 WR. *We sign TE Rob Kelley to a 5 year, $20 million deal. He's a pass catching Tight End that fits perfectly into our scheme. TE Kerry Netter, the 2nd Team TE. This woudl be our only successful signing (other than undrafted rookie's) in th elate FA stage.

For the first time in this dynasty, I will be using the gameplan philosophy I discussed in the strategy forum.
Here is this year's roster, which is one of the worst we've had in a while... Code:
It's still Wesley's team. I never really gave Ferrer a chance to develop, but he's in his 9th year now and it's useless to try and develop him at this point. Gunn isn't what I was looking for. Code:
I have high hopes for rookie Korey Lynn. I'm dead at the FB position, but there is a solution, as you see below. Code:
TE Netter is moved to the FB spot to make way for new starter Kelley. Netter only loses experience in the switch, but he will start the whole year and should get it back. Code:
We're a long way from the days of Calvin Johnson. Dillon is a good, solid consistent receiver. After that, it gets ugly. Last year's 7th round pick Cecava put up two 100 yard games before going down with an ACL tear. Can he get it back? He will get a chance to start but will be pushed by this year's 7th round pick Dan Moss. Code:
Untested youth at the Center position wi ll give me problems this season. The rest of the line is solid, if unspectacular. Code:
Chapman is a great distance punter. Numbers is a very accurate kicker with a weak leg. Code:
The strongest part of my team this year. Winslett is a beast and I'm loaded at DT. Two rookies will compete for the #2 DE spot. Code:
Run stopping specialist McNiven is 4th on the career Tackles list. Bernstein will spell him this year in zone coverage situations, where McNiven has struggled for years. The OLB situation is noot very good. Code:
To run my gameplan, I need a good secondary. This isn't a great one, but it is pretty deep. Hasting is a good #1 CB, and the Safeties are terrific.

Week 1 - NY Jets 26, Miami 17
Wesley puts up 349 yards of offense, but is picked off 4 times. Thsi is somethign that hurt us quite a bit last year. Hopefully he can get it together. We clearly outplayed the Jets and could have beat them easily with fewer turnovers.

Week 2 - San Francisco 24, Miami 9
The lone bright spot here is Marshall Cecava, who had 100 yards on 7 catches. Everything else was ugly. We have 2 CB's out for 7 weeks and several other players banged up. This looks like it's going to be a miserable season.

Week 3 - Jacksonville 37, Miami 20
Jacksonville terrorizes me once again. Wesley has 323 yards, but it took 51 attempts for him to do so. Cecava and Dillon are doing a good job at the WR spot, but the rest of the team can barely find the field, much less do anything worthwhile on it.

Week 4 - Buffalo 36, Miami 35
Ferrer gets his first start of the season and throws for 310 yards. Denham's 4th quarter INT return put us up 35-20, but Buffalo came roaring back. With 25 seconds left, they hit a 47 yard FG for the victory.

Week 5 - Miami 13, San Diego 0
We win our first game of the season, but it's nothing to get too crazy about, since it was previously winless San Diego we beat. The running game shined in this one, as Lynn and Sharkey combined for 37 carries for 155 yards and we controlled the clock for 37 minutes.

Week 6 - Miami 23, Denver 0
The team seems to be coming t ogether under the leadership of Will Ferrer. We post our 2nd straight shut out and this one was against 3-1 Denver. Ferrer had a solid day by going 13-21 for 226 yards and a TD. The defense only allowed 162 total yards from the Broncos.

Week 7 - Bye Week
Haag update: He's sitting as a backup in Washington and is attitude is "Livid". He still has 2 years left on his contract. He might retire before ever seeing the field again. Young update: Young is struggling in what coudl be his final season. The Lions are 1-5 and he's thrown 8 TD's with 7 INT's so far.

And this week, we beat 5-1 Kansas City for our 3rd victory in a row. Ferrer had 243 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, and threw 2 TD passes in the 4th quarter for the comeback victory. Ernie Jarvis and Roger Hasting had 2 INT's each.

Week 9 - Miami 27, Oakland 17
Winless Oakland was no match for us. Their legendary WR Calvin Stargell (who just passed Calvin Johnson in the career records list) had a big game as expected with 116 yards and 2 TD. However, we were able to come up with 4 INT's for the 2nd week in a row. Ferrer was a very efficient 22-29 for 233 yards and 2 TD.

Ferrer had a huge day, going 33-44 for 338 yards and 1 TD, with 0 INT. TE Rob Kelley and WR Juan Dillon both went over 100 yards receiving, and the pass defense had 3 picks this week. That's 11 INT's over the last 3 games. Now at 5-4, we have a good shot at the playoffs. The AFC East title will be tough, as the Jets are 7-2 with a tiebreaker edge.

We win a nailbiter a gainst the Jets to put us in contention for the AFC East title. Ferrer struggled in this one, but Sharkey and Lynn combined for 140 rushing yards, and the DL came up with two huge sacks on the Jets last drive.

The opportunistic secondary strikes again. Backup Safety John Brown breaks a tie int he 2nd half by returning an INT 66 yards for a TD. Ferrer would finish the Cardinals off with a TD pass to converted FB Kerry Netter, who is having an outstanding season. This is our 7th win in a row!

Week 13 - Miami 31, Baltimore 27
Make it 8 in a row as we beat a tough Baltimore team. Highlights of this one include TE Rob Kelley's 22 yard catch which turned into a 72 yard TD. Marshall Cecava returned a kickoff for a 91 yard TD. Baltimore scored with 3:44 left on a 15 yard TD pass. Ferrer quickly answered, driving us 79 yards in only 1:36, and Sharkey ran for a 5 yard TD run to win the game.

Ferrer has another terrific game, going 29-37 for 338 yards and 3 TD's. Once again he was great in the 4th quarter, where he threw 2 TD passes in the last 7 minutes for the comeback victory. The Ferrer story is a great one. A former 1st round pick, he was clearly seen as a bust, only starting 10 games (and playign badly in them) over his first 8 years. In his 9th season, he now has a QB rating of 103.4 for #2 in the league. Another great story is the AFC East. The Dolphins, Jets, and Bills are all tied at 9-4.

A big divisional win in a dominating way. Korey Lynn ran for a career high 157 yards and 2 TD's, backup Leo Sharkey had 71 yards on 17 carries for a 228 yard rushing total this week. We controlled the clock for 37 minutes and outgained the Bills 459-279.

Week 16 - Seattle 31, Miami 23
All streaks come to an end eventually. We fell down to a 31-7 hole and this time it was too much to come back from. Seattle QB Joseph Sawyer completed 17 of 19 passes against us and Ferrer threw 2 costly picks. Robinson came in late and almost led us to a comeback but our final drive stalled on downs at midfield. Next week is crucial. We still have not even clinched a wildcard spot. Buffalo and Baltimore are both 9-6. To win the AFC East will require a Dolphins win and Jets loss.

Time to resurrect this dynasty and hopefully give the Dolphins some good karma heading into the 2007 season...
Week 17 - Miami 38, New England 14 After an even contest through 3 quarters of play that left the game tied 14-14, we exploded for 24 points in the 4th, thanks mostly to our defense. The longest drive during that quarter was 32 yards. Also, the Jets lost, leaving us with the AFC East title.

Conference Semifinals - Kansas City 31, Miami 10
Not the way I wanted a dream season to end. We started out 0-4, and then won 11 of our final 12 games to win another division title. But we just couldn't stop the Chiefs offense. QB Keith Bierce completed 19 of 22 passes for 313 yards and 3 TD's. Will Ferrer had a rough outing and could not keep up.

Offseason Notes
*No Dolphins retirees. Yay! *Notable league wide retirees include QB Matt Leinart, QB Carson Palmer, QB Jay Cutler, QB Eli Manning, QB Ben Roethlisberger, QB Alex Smith, T Levi Brown. *The only real life players still left are P Daniel Sepulveda, QB Brady Quinn, QB Vince Young, T Justin Blalock, QB Drew Stanton, QB Brian Brohm, and QB Tyler Palko. *No staff changes this offseason. *This could be a dumb move, but I'm letting QB Will Ferrer and WR Juan Dillon to test the free agent waters this season. They're both 10th year players and I don't feel like paying their franchise tag, *I send last year's 7th round pick WR Dan Moss to the summer league.

Free Agency - 2021
Week 2 Two big signings this week. I stole RJ Maxwell from the Jets. He's very good RB that they weren't using him properly. He has a 4 year career YPC of 4.66 including a career best of 5.35 last year. I also got S Bryce Downs to help shore up depth in my aging secondary. He's a terrific run stopper. Week 3 More great news! Both QB Will Ferrer and WR Juan Dillon stay with the team without much fuss. Dillon actually took less money to stay with us. Week 4 HUGE signing. OLB Charles Mcneill is a 6th year player amazing pass rush and pass coverage skills. Week 5 I sign MLB Dwayne Cebelak, a splendid run stopper who can lay some punishing hits. The idiot Bills didn't even start this guy. He's a 70/70 and they let him languish on the bench for 6 years. Week 8 My final pickup is DE Jack Gray, a pass rushing specialist who will probably start this year. I will have to look for a decent run defender next year.

Late Free Agency
The only thing going on in Late FA were some veteran holduts. One of them was MLB Chuck McNiven, who wants a raise of $1 million this year and an extension for next year. He's been a great player for us but I just can't do it. He gets released. All my rookies are signed without problem and I fill out the roster with backups at FB and TE.

Week 1 - Miami 34, Buffalo 28
We finally get off to a good start with a nice offensive output against the Bills. Ferrer had 3 TD passes, Juan Dillon 6 catches for 157 yards, and free agent RJ Maxwell (thanks Jets!) carried 19 times for 101 yards. Week 2 - Miami 34, Tampa Bay 6 This was a bizaare game. Ferrer only attempted 14 passes (completing 9 for 110 yards). Meanwhile, we ran the ball 42 times, as RB's Maxwell and Lynn combined for 243 yards. Maxwell had 5 TD's all by himself. Week 3 - Miami 28, Kansas City 16 We're definitely rolling now. Maxwell has his third straight 100 yard game, while Ferrer throws 3 TD passes. Week 4 - Miami 20, New England 17 Ferrer is hurt but Robinson fills in nicely and we wrap up the 1st quarter of the season with a close victory over the rival Pats. Maxwell runs for 129 yards on 18 carries and currently leads the league in rushing. I promise we won't trade him to the Jaguars.

Week 5 - Miami 31, Jacksonville 20
Ferrer returns with a solid game (14-22-231), but its the ground game that steals the show. RJ Maxwell has 113 yards and Korey Lynn adds 103. It was a close contest, but we pulled away from the Jags when Ferrer found rookie Keith Pritchett for a 43 yard TD. Week 6 - Miami 48, Tennessee 24 The game was alot closer than the score indicates. Behind veteran QB Tyler Palko's 3 TD passes, the Titans were only down 31-24 entering the 4th quarter. After we kicked a FG to go up by 10, Palko was picked off twice in the final 3 minutes and both picks were returned for TD's. Week 7 - Buffalo 39, Miami 21 Ouch. This is not how I wanted the undefeated season to end. The 0-6 Bills embarass our pass defense with 361 yards and 3 TD's to take a huge early lead. With our running game out of action, Ferrer has his worst out of the season, giving up three picks. Week 8 - Indianapolis 28, Miami 20 After losing to the winless Bills, we now lose to the undefeated Colts. Just like last week, we fall behind early (21-0) and are forced to the air. Ferrer put up 343 yards, but also threw 4 picks. Adding in a fumble gives us 5 turnovers int he game and its amazing we were able to come back and make this a game. Week 9 is a bye and at midseason we are 6-2 and in 1st place int he AFC East, with the Pats one game back. Ferrer struggled in his last two outings but still is 9th in Passing Efficiency. RJ Maxwell is 1st in the league in rushing yards per game. Juan Dillon is 4th in catches and 3rd in yards. However, I have neglected to mention DE Lester Winslett this season. My 1st round pick (#9 overall) in 2019, he leads the league in sacks with 10.5 and is only 1 behind his total for all of last season.

That`s great reading for a noobie like me, lot`s of good tips.
I have a couple of questions: [1]How do you extract your stats/standings from the game to display them in this thread? i`d like to be able to do that. [2]What happened to JaMarcus Russell in your game? I noticed early on that he wasn`t one of the highest rated players back in late `06, yet he went to my beloved Raiders as #1 in RL! Just shows what a good bowl game will do for you?!? |
