Music - Rise Against?

What are people's impression of them? They are a politically charged band but they really seem to put their beliefs heavily into their music rather then just use their influence to push their views, separate from their actual music.

They're okay. It's far better then Boy Sets Fire (who I do like some of their stuff) where they embrace Michael Moore and Communisim. It's absurd in some of their songs but if you look past it they have some decent tunes.

Since I'm a conservative and a music lover (particularly the heavy stuff), I pretty much have learned to tune any political bias out. I've never heard this particular band's music, but if I liked it, I wouldn't let the message they were trying to push bother me. If anything, some of it is entertaining apart from the music, so it adds a layer of enjoyment to it.

catchy tunes... I hear them a decent amount on sirius. I am kicking myself for not going to their show with anti-flag in chicago a while back..

I love them, and like KSyrup couldn't care less what a band is saying as long as it sounds good. As far as the politics go I guess they have the PETA thing, but most of the lyrics I've ever noticed seem to be the typical anti-establishment fare I expect from most hard rock bands. Too bad they had to tour with My Chemical Romance, because I wanted to see them again but don't/didn't really have the money unless both bands were good.

Secondary note, if you do get a chance to see Anti-Flag live do it, they are fantastic and have tonnes of energy. Them and Moneen.

I was able to see Anti-Flag the last time they came through.. awesome show. I expected a more "punk" image but they were closer to a more professional band that just rocked the F out. The bill also had Alexisonfire. They were aweful, just not my kind of band. The lead singer seemed to think it was cool to spit on the fornt row of fans... Opening was Big D and The Kids Table. Another band with tons of energy. Their lead singer was having tons of fun and it showed. Hard not to dance around to their version of ska.

I saw Moneen with Saves the Day about 3 years back I think... good stuff although I have not caught them since.

Yup and yup. I don't know who Rise Against is, but there's a German band I recently heard called Rammstein. I dunno what the hell they're saying and I really don't care, their music is fucking awesome!

Rise Against, as is Anti-Flag, is ok. Fairly generic politi-punk with enough pop in it to appeal to more people. They are nowhere near punk bands from the 80's IMO.

They toured with My Chemical Romance? They just lost any respect I had for them. How sad.

Saw Rise Against last night in Boston/ w/Comeback Kid (the 1/2 a set I saw was real good) and Silverstein (not bad, but too screamo IMO.) Rise Against was ridiculous. Very good. I kinda wish I lived in Cali because I see they're headlining with Pennywise in Long Beach, but c'est la vie. Only bad part (other than still sweating on the T after) was coming out of the venue to a 5-4 Sox lead and watching Gagne blow it (again) aided by hearing all of Fenway groaning at once immediately after.

I don't see how people can ignore a band's political and social beliefs. Skrewdriver could be the most musically talented band ever, but they're (or werem actually...I think their lead singer died or something) dumb nazis, so I'll never know.

And, if a band that I loved came out with a song called "Keep On Fighting", in regards to the Iraq war, I don't think I could bring myself to listen to their shit anymore.
