Full Page Ads Now?

So I'm browsing CNN this morning, click a link to go to one of their pages, and get hit with a full-screen Polo ad embedded in the page with a close button. Does not look like a pop-over.

Go to ESPN.com a few minutes ago and am greeted with a full page "NBA Finals on ABC!" ad that I have to click-through to get to ESPN.

I may have to stop browsing the web...

And here come the Firefox fluffers in 3, 2, 1...

Actually I like these ads better, since you can (usually) skips them immediately.

As long as the ad loads quickly, doesn't slow the site down, and doesn't try anything gimmicky to get my attention (sound, etc) they don't bother me. All this free content has to be paid for by someone.

You know I used NS for well over 6 months and when I redid my computer I decided not to use it. It just got to be so annoying that so many websites I'd run into I would have to set NS to allow certain things. With Ad-Block+ it covers about 99% of the crap.

I don't mind anything with a close buttom. But Yahoo mail has his new ad that's floating over everything, with no option to close. You just have to sit there like a dope for 3 seconds and wait for it to leave.

This is taking things to a new level between ESPN and Disney. I just clicked on the article for the Rays/ Jays game and got sent directly to disney.com!

Go here:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/draft2...ory?id=2896779

Click on the Burnett fans 13... story, and then "Enter a Character World!"

That's pretty funny - ESPN.com does have probllems with sloppiness from time to time. One time I came across an article there had all of the editor's notes still on it - stuff like, "what you mean here?", "this doesn't make sense", etc. I wish I screensaved it.
