What needs to be fixed in HT?

I'm not one that delves deep into the workings of HT, but by reading some of the posts here, HT is not the same.

All I do is set lineup, arrange friendly, maybe browse, then logoff.

Team design -- a part of the WTF factor, but it seems absurd that if you play a team and the midfield is about equal and you're at home, you have better offense than your opponent's defense and better defense than their offense, but they still beat you 5-1 or something absurd like that. Once in awhile, it makes sense....every other week, it becomes absurd.

And though I know HT isn't real life, there seem to be more SE type goals than there used to be, or than should be. I think I had 4 goals allowed one game, all on SE's (and only one of those was a corner). Maybe the refs are blind, too, because that amount of SE's near a goal and scorage is a bit absurd, too

Did you ever post this in global, or send it to a GM for forwarding to the HT's? I hope you did, Lord knows they need some damn clue on what to do, cause they've shown that they have not an iota of one to this point.

Does stamina really matter anymore?

My players really need that training, but have been reluctant to do so.
I may as well bite the bullet, and do it. My team is done for year, a possible demotion to D6(a new low) is looming. I'm playing just for the heck of it, no team goals are set now or for the future, just playing and seeing what happens.

Maybe I'll just become a farm team, train players to a sellable level, then rinse and repeat.

Personally I think they've lost their way. By and large the game is an economic simulation based on the world of soccer, and their financial model has just completely fallen apart. It's to the point now that in order to compete at a higher level you have to buy 30+ year olds and hope they don't break to stay within a decent wage range. Training is nearly pointless, when the best trainees cost too much, and won't sell for much more than what you paid for them in the first place. The sweet spot of training now seems to be around the WC level, and even that is going for roughly a mil a piece. Only the truly specialty type players, with good secondaries, go for anything over 1.5 now.

I don't think this problem can be fixed, not with the way things are set up now, not without drastic changes. The HT universe is mature now, the market will always remain flooded with players of little to no variety. The teams with money or need will always be far fewer than the teams supplying the players from the bottom to the top. The pyramid system of the series dictates that, and it won't change.

My solution? Train for team needs. The problem? My team is broke financially due to some purchases just before the Great Market Crash of Hattrick. Those players I paid 4 million for? They go for 500k and down now. I've been kicking the idea of just blowing my team up, dropping to VI, and starting all over again. I hate to do that, since I finally trained my forwards up, and am planning to do winger. I just don't know that I can survive through next season with my wages. Even if I sold off my mythical middie for 250k, what good will it do me? I can't replace him with anything about excellent at that price.

If I were a HT...

1) The Cup. I would make it a random draw and split the income between the teams.

2a) Supporter soft cap redistribution. D1 4000, D2 1000, D3 500, D4 250, D5 and lower 125.

2b) Attendance. I don't know what the formulas are for determining attendance, but I think the soft cap redistribution might give me what I am looking for (smaller crowds for lower divisions).

3) Youths. I would make it more expensive to produce players from youth acadamies or youth pulls.

Can someone explain to my why the cup favors the lower seeded teams? I've never understood that. Shouldn't it favor the better seeds?

a) you get more of the gate money so it's more lucrative.
b) you play at home so there is an engine bonus for that (at least there used to be. have not paid much attention lately). So, if the teams are even, the home team has an advantage and the lower seed is always the home team.

That's my take on it, anyway. Could be off a bit.

I get the nuts and bolts of it but I don't understand the why. Shouldn't the cup reward the better teams like in the NCAA tournament and not penalize them?

If this is the case then they absolutely MUST do something when one promotes to the next level that gives those teams a fighting chance, otherwise you end up destroying the entire middle of the game and i bet you'd see 150,000 teams quit immediately.

That might not be so bad...

Teams could survive a move up much like they do know by making sure they are ready to make the move to the next level financially. It would fix alot more problems than you realize at first glance. For example, think what it would do to farm teams? I think it would also increase the role of multiskilled players.
