Sooo, I updated my sound card driver today ...
And now my sound doesn't work at all. Went and rolled back the drivers, still nothing. What the hell happened?
I even tried looking on the internets for older drivers, and admittedly it's an older sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy LS), but that didn't work either. I can't figure out what happened. It was working fine the night before ... Any ideas?

Some day a sound card vendor will come along who knows how to write drivers. Some day.

If nothing else works try uninstalling and reinstalling.

I've tried everything suggested here, unfortunately I lost the install CD a long time ago and I think that's the stem of the problem. I figured updating the drivers wouldn't do so much damage, but apparently I was wrong.

It's a longshot, but try downloading the last version of windows media player and reinstalling.

About an hour ago I downloaded an updated video driver from the card producer's web site and installed it. It did absolutely nothing for the video performance I was looking for and promised but I found I could no longer log on to the internet - email, web browsing, ftp all dead Uninstalling the driver did nothing to improve it. Fortunately using System Restore I'm back to where I was before downloading the driver and am back on line. I just love this stuff Last edited by Mac Howard : 06-18-2007 at 10:22 AM. |

Well, I figured it out. Apparently the new drivers went in and turned on the "digital output only" option in the control panel, and once I un-checked that option, my sound is working again.
Thanks everybody for all of the suggestions.
