From The Ashes: Phoenix Studios (A Hollywood Mogul Dynasty)

[From black, the Entertainment Tonight studio becomes clearer.]

Mary Hart: And tonight there is word from Hollywood that former studio mogul Sean Penxa is looking to make a come back. The ex-head of the failed Archer Studios has received the backing of unknown investors in this comeback attempt. When asked if he thought he could keep this studio from going under, Sean only replied, "Maybe."

I walk into my new studio and remember how good it feels to be in the movie industry. I walk past security with a little flash of my "work" badge, and get into my office.

I sit down in my confortable chair and decide it is time to get to work. Already wasted my time with one studio, better not start that again:

Screenplay News

The writers have to get working on something, and I decide that I always want at least 9 scripts being worked on, broken down as such:

4 Action Adventure/Science Fiction/Suspense Thriller
3 Comedy/Drama/Computer Animation/Traditional Animation/Live-Action Animation
1 Romantic Comedy/Love Story/Musical
1 Horror/Mystery/Western

So, I get the writers out there, and we decide on 9 scripts to be worked on:

Yellow Journalism (rights cost 3,100,000) - Suspense Thriller
A young reporter has his ethics tested by a serial killer phoning in his murders moments before the crime is committed.

The Extreme (rights cost 2,700,000) - Action Adventure
A mountain climber tries to stop the getaway of robbers as they trek across the Himalayas.

Nightwing (my own idea) - Action Adventure
The former boy wonder, Dick Grayson, with help from the former Batgirl, Barbra Gordon, takes down crime in Gotham’s sister city. Bludhaven.

The Lost Hope (my own idea) - Science Fiction Comedy
The one man who can save the universe and bring peace to all the galaxies is a bumbling idiot.

Martyr Highway (rights cost 2,800,000) - Drama
A man, stranded on a lonely stretch of road begins to loose faith in mankind.

Teacher’s Pet (rights cost 2,300,000) - Drama Comedy
A professor and a grad student fall in love while studying monkeys.

Convention-al War (my own idea) - Comedy
Two competing groups of friends attempt to hold comic book conventions on the same day.

That Damn Dog! (rights cost 4,050,000) - Romantic Comedy
A man hates the dog of the woman he loves.

Terror Train (rights cost 1,700,000) - Horror
A train is invaded by a ghostly passenger and begins killing, starting with the conductor.

When I get into my office, the Farrelly Brothers are waiting for me. I sit down with them, and they tell me they want to write, produce, and direct a Romantic Comedy called “Who’s That Monkey?”. After discussing their proposal with them, I decide that their demands of 2.5 million plus 30% of the net profit is just too much.

M Night Shyamalan has come to me with the film he wants to be his first project for me. He isn’t too specific on the details except that it takes place in Pennsylvania and has a wicked twist at the end. The movie is called “Aberration” and I okay his request for 2.5 million plus 6% of the net profit to write, produce, and direct the film.
