just had a great game w/ pumpy. arizona (me) vs memphis. won 24-17 but i was up 17-3 at the half and Pumpy battled back. He tied it up with 45 seconds left but the next play I hit my RB over the middle, made a nice cut back and went the distance for 70 yards. He drove down to my 16 but threw a pick in the endzone to end it.
awesome game though. ill be playing again shortly if anyones interested |

I myself do not have access to the firewall, unfortunately. And the folks who do, are not here till tommorrow night.
It fits though, how I can send you an invite and you connect (I've opened up the window), but you can't send me an invite.

There are a few ports that have to be open. I forget which ones, but info can be found on Microsoft's website.

Well, that was a good game until it dropped in the 2nd. Nice return on that pick.

I'm not sure either. Some games I get through fine, sometimes I lose connection to my opponent. I'm tempted to buy one of those powerline converters that is supposed to be more reliable than wireless, but I can't justify the cost right now.

Just got humbled 31-7 by EF as he was USC and I was Michigan. I was up early but he blocked a FG and after that it was downhill. I think he had like 9 sacks, mostly because I was forced to throw most of the fourth. He had a 99 yard INT return for a TD with like 1:40 left to make it 31-7 though the game never truly was that close.
Nice work. |

We had a few lucky breaks early and I don't think the score was indicative of how close it was. I'm looking forward to a rematch next weekend.

So is online play glichy in general on these new consoles? I keep hearing anecdotal reports of dropped connections or difficulty getting a game started. Is that kind of thing widespread?

I talked about this once long ago in a galaxy far far away, but the problem is often not with the game (and certainly not with the new consoles), but rather the shaky nature of connections on the Internet. It used to be that only networking-savvy people were playing online, but it's a much broader audience now that doesn't understand why downloading music through BitTorrent would affect their online gaming experience, or why a wireless network that loves to drop packets would affect their online gaming experience, or any of a number of other issues. There are also enough routing issues that can make getting game packets through in a timely manner between particular players. One issue we deal with on a regular basis in a client-server game is that just because you have two players with a route to a server, you are not guaranteed to have a route between the two clients. So if you have a choppy game with someone, it probably means you just don't have a good connection. That isn't to say there can't be problems with games, but I can guarantee you that it can be difficult to get a decent connection between two players, especially for games that require quick reaction times.

Yeah, I think my wireless connection causes some of the drops. I've been tempted to go with the powerline option to connect my 360 to my internet through the house's wiring, but it's a bit too costly for me to justify the cost compared to the amount of time I actually play online right now. FWIW, my 2nd game with DeToxRox was very smooth for me with hardly any lag throughout.
