My intitial thought was Tecmo Super Bowl before I even opened the thread. Although, MVP 2005 with Manny on the front for Xbox would also be a great choice.

Also, what's the huge deal about NCAA '04? Maybe I just enjoy them all for what they are worth, but I don't remember the '04 game being the holy grail of NCAA's or anything like that. Maybe it's because I was going into school as a freshman and lost time for the game in September because my TV broke all the time in the dorms.

FOF 2007, but only if a new patch comes out that fixes the goal line defense being incorrectly called. I haven't played FOF 2007 in about 2 months as that issue bugs me. However, I have been wanting to play a fixed FOF 2007, so I could see myself playing FOF 2007 for a long time without getting bored on the island.

Otherwise, I would take BBCF.

There are other games that are good, but nothing else uses up as much time.

Which is exactly why I haven't purchased another FM. I purchased one two versions ago and I couldn't stay away from the damn game. So that is why I haven't voted for FM 2007. I don't even want to learn about the new features out of fear of an impulse buy. It had enough things to draw you in before and it was more addicting than any MMORPG I have played.

If I were on an island with that game, I wouldn't last longer than a couple of weeks because I would have somehow forgotten to eat and sleep.

If there are a bunch of scantilly clad women running around, I'm bringing Tournament Cyberball so we can have Strip Cyberball tournaments.

But, hey, if you guys want to sit in a cave and play FM 07', knock yourself out.

Another vote for FM. Combines the best of a text sim and mixes in some rpg as well.

Because it's forever, it would probably be NBA Live, because I enjoy actually playing the game. Second would be Fifa Manager.

NHL Hockey on PC by EA. Here's a screenshot to remind people:

I played this game more than any sports game, and any game other CivNet (my first version of Civ) in my life.

I GREATLY approve of that screenshot. I played this game more than any other too. Every lunch hour for a couple of years, plus evening and weekends too. I played through an entire 82-game season with Tampa Bay.

I remember it being really fun to play.

In the early 90s, NHL hockey was head and shoulders above other sports games. It was the only team sport that felt real at all. And the best part was that the Blackhawks were always much better than in real life.

OOTP 2007.

I'd miss FM, bought my first copy in 2006 knowing nothing about football (it just doesn't feel right to call it soccer anymore). Skipped last but will
be buying FM\WSM 2008.

The thing about ootp is I have 14 years of history built up playing out all of my games. I simply couldn't let it go.

Is it nostalgia? The game was good, but there's been a few technical advances since it came out. For example, there are football games out that allow you to call more than 4 plays. Some even allow you to have a full team of 11 players...on each team!

Oh yeah, I missed that. Yeah, they did a bang up job on career play in that version, didn't they?

I just honestly am trying to figure out how someone could play that game for more than a few hours. It was a fantastic game, for it's time. It was so far ahead of it's time that it's still playable now. It's just not a fantastic game now.

I don't get the Tecmo worship at all. I mean, I had fun playing Blades of Steel 100 years ago too, but I moved on.

If I were alone on the island: FM2007 and there's not much competition

If I were stuck with a friend of similar gaming tastes: Baseball Stars narrowly beats Tecmo Super Bowl and Winning Eleven.

Why does it have to be a sports game? Civ4 (if you would include the expansions) is enough to last a lifetime. If it has to sports, a toss-up between FBCB and OOTP5.

That'd be cheating though as I really hope we have in-game (FML) ordering for takeout in the final game and that'd be a real bonus above and beyond a game

With no internet FM2008.

Any game (no sports restriction) and internet it would be Dominions 3. With no internet I would have to go with Gal Civ2 probably.

High five to Kodos for keeping me entertained in this thread.

As for my game: FBCB, with FM being a close second.

I'm quite torn between, FM, OOTP and DMB they are all in my play rotation currently and I'd be hard pressed to choose just one.

FM. The fact that it pisses me off so much is a direct product of how invested I feel in the game and its universe. I'm still playing 06 (will buy 08), but crack has got to be easier to drop than FM>
