Yet Another New Computer Thread
Check it out. Got it on EBay, refurbished by Dell with a few scratches on the case:
DELL XPS 410 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86 Ghz) 4MB L2 Cache, 1066 Mhz FSB Video: 256 MB Nvida GeForce 8600 GTS RAM: 2GB Hard Drive: 320 GB at 7200 RPM OS: Vista Home Premium Cost $698. Also got a 22" widescreen flat panel from DELL. I'm excited as hell. Let me know what you think. I was so worried about the processor speed but after reading the board it seems like the Core 2 Duo is pretty sick. EDIT: The monitor isn't included in that price. I haven't been keeping up with computers lately, but that does seem good.

Core 2 Duo is great. I have the E6320 as well. Cheap and good processor.
Tell me how your video card works out for you. I'm planning on getting an 8600 GTS as well. The 8800 is just about $100 to pricey for me.

Will do. My girlfriend has one and it's pretty awesome. She doesn't play too many graphically crazy games, but she plays The Sims 2 with ( i think ) all the graphics turned all the way up, and it runs so smooth.

Do you have any brand in particular for the Nvidia 8600?

Nvidia is the company that makes the graphics chip, much like Intel makes the CPU. Some of the big vendors that make video cards with the nvidia chip are Asus, BFG, eVGA, among others.

Dola, I just did some asking around (I'm currently consulting at Dell), and they aren't sure who the OEM for the video cards is currently. I'll see if I can find out for y'all.
And that's a great price, considering they start at around $1200 for that model.

yea, i think i got a great deal. here's a little tip for all of you looking to buy a new computer, if you dont already know this. www.dell.com/outlet has great deals on refurbished computers, and ones that were new and unopened that were returned to Dell. Also, you can get some scratched/dented ones. Knocks down the price a ton, and everything still works perfectly. |
