Looking for input
My game is up next and frankly I'm a bit nervous =)
I'm trying to decide on a deadline time. I work nights mon-thur and can best handle a deadline between 6pm est and 9pm est. I can do a 10pm deadline but that would require delays in reporting the results. I figure with me being a newb at this its going to take long enough as it is. So, whats the best deadline time in that range for everyone? I am going with a 24 hour clock but the deadline is pretty much for votes and certain specific actions only, most normal actions can be done at any point during the day. Input welcomed!

I think the most important thing is to pick a consistant time that there won't be any uncertainty to when it is. So if 10pm is going to be rough for you as a game moderator, pick 9pm instead. Really on mondays - Thursdays the most active time is 4pm - 11pm or so EST, and it doesn't hurt to have an hour or two after deadline for alot of people to be around to discuss things. I personally like 9pm deadlines better myself anyways, but I know in the past when this was discussed more people preferred 10pm. If you have an issue with your schedule at 10, just go with 9. It won't detract anything from the game really. |

Set the deadline for a time that's convenient for you. Its best to have one deadline, people tend to forget or freak out if you move it from 7 one day to 8 the next day.
Take your time processing everything, its better to take a couple of hours than to get something wrong and have to try to fix it. Also maybe somebody who isn't playing will be able to help you out - I think Neon said he was taking a break, maybe he'll help you run it. |

I've got everything loaded into spreadsheets for tracking, I don't think I'll have too much trouble processing everything. Just got the jitters is all =) I'm excited!

You can go 8. The 24 hour clock gives you some leeway.

I am leaning this way actually. Gives me plenty of time at work to process info and doesn't interfere with Telle and the little one's nearly as badly as say 8:30 or 9pm might. Not positive yet though. |

I'm setup as well as I can be for now, I'm prepared for the worst (10 gazillion PM's each day) so as long as I don't go completely insane I'll consider myself victorious =) |

Every assumption you have about the game will turn out differently than you expect. As far as deadlines, and as a west coaster, keep time zones in mind.......for example, I have no problem with an 8:00 Eastern deadline, but I also know that I'll never be around then.

I would just echo the idea of setting a time that works for you.

I'm really pretty flexible though as I sit in front of my PC at work for 10 hours a day =) So I have some leeway to try and accomodate the players. |
