Meh. I'm from West Michigan, and I was actually rooting for GVSU. I love the Lakers, and they represent the Westside proudly, so I'm cool with it. Family before anything else.
In the long run, this means nothing. If it were an actual game, I'd care more, but as it was not, I was rooting for GVSU!!!!! Go Lakers!!!!!!!!! Last edited by Schmidty : 11-03-2007 at 12:33 AM. |

I'm suprised no one bumped this yet.
So yeah, that game today was a bummer. Oh well. My dad called but I didn't even pick up the phone. He sang that horrible song on the answering machine. ![]() |

Does your own father wear Blue? Your team is on the way up. I was wrong about Dantonio... I wanted to be right! Highlight of the game was your RB spinning out of Crable's tackle only to be tackled by him over 70 yards downfield. Two great plays in one! Spartans got something good there, so did Wolverines! |

Yeah, that's why I'm a Spartan fan. I learned at a young age how obnoxious U-M fans were, and how hard my dad tried to shove it down my throat. So as a kid (8 or so), I asked my grandma to buy me a MSU shirt to spite my dad. Boy was he pissed. So that clinched it for me. I've been a huge MSU fan since then. The rivalry between dad and me is good-natured now days, but it's definitely still there. |

Hail to the victors, baby.
Time to reset that Countdown to Michigan clock. Only a little less than 365 days to go!

Looks like things are getting testy!
Dantonio, Hoyer rip U-M's Hart: 'It's personal now' Dave Dye / The Detroit News EAST LANSING -- Michigan State's coaches and players were extremely offended and irked by Michigan running back Mike Hart's comments following the Wolverines' 28-24 victory Saturday. "If they want to mock us, I'm telling them, it's not over," first-year MSU coach Mark Dantonio said. "They can print all that crap they want all over their locker room. It's not over. It'll never be over here. It's just starting." Dantonio was responding to Hart's comment and the attitude in general of the Wolverines, who had beaten MSU six straight years. "They need to check themselves sometimes," Dantonio said. "Let's just remember pride comes before the fall." The Hart quote came in response to Michigan State taking a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter. "I was just laughing," Hart said Saturday. "I thought it was funny. They got excited. Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you're playing basketball, and you let him get the lead, and then you come back and take it back." Quarterback Brian Hoyer was asked how the Michigan State players reacted to Hart's quote. "Let's put it this way, if anybody hadn't taken this personal up until this point, it's personal now," Hoyer said. "It just shows what kind of class he has. "Sooner or later, the little brother, you want to put us that way, you get pushed around enough, the little brother fights back and kicks the other brother's (butt). "I'll look forward to the next 364 days for that game because it just shows the arrogance that they have. We don't take that lightly. That's something you take personal. "We don't feel they really deserved to win that game. I'm sure they walked away feeling a little bit lucky coming out of it, too. I can guarantee you come next year, that (Hart's quote) will be sitting up on our bulletin board." Hart, of course, won't be in uniform for that game because he's a senior. -------------------------------- Michigan State plays Purdue this weekend, but head coach Mark Dantonio had much more to say about MSU’s 28-24 loss to Michigan last Saturday and the extracurricular activities that took place after the game. Dantonio was asked if he was amused by U-M’s players pausing for a “moment of silence” at midfield. The action was intended to mock Dantonio’s statement on a radio broadcast after U-M lost to Appalachian State. When informed of that loss, Dantonio jokingly asked if he should have a “moment of silence” for the Wolverines. “I find a lot of the things that they do amusing,” Dantonio said on Monday. “They need to check themselves sometimes. But just remember, pride comes before the fall.” Dantonio also addressed Mike Hart’s comments after the game in which he referred to MSU as the “little brother” of U-M. “Does Hart have a little brother or is he the little brother?” Dantonio asked. “I don’t know, he’s…” Then Dantonio placed his hand up to his chest to illustrate Hart’s stature. “I don’t know, I didn’t really see that comment, but like I said… let’s just say I won’t comment on that.” He paused for two seconds. “I guess I can’t help myself. As I said earlier, it’s not over. I’m going to be a coach here for a long time. It’s not over. It’s just starting. I’m very proud of our football team and I’m very proud of the way our football team handled themselves after the game as well.” “We don’t have to disrespect people. We’ll come to play. We don’t have to be disrespected; we don’t have to disrespect people. But if they want to make a mockery of it, so be it. Their time will come.”

Brian Hoyer is so awful. He could've shut up Hart if he doesn't overthrow two for sure TD's and just in general make completions. I still don't get everyons love affair with the guy. Sure he doesn't turn the ball over, but he also doesn't complete many passes.
It all makes me yawn. |

I was just looking at your sig, DeTox and asked myself "Chew The Mout dot com?" What the hell is mout and why would you chew it? I then appropriately (I think) placed the "m". Chew Them Out dot com makes more sense.

It's sad. Hart was my favorite U-M player ever (look it up), but all he did here was make himself look like a typical fat slob wolverine fan. Shame.
I like the pluck of Hoyer and Dantonio. What the fuck are they supposed to do, say "I like it up the ass"? Hart's statement is the exact reason why I hate you all so much, and why I became an MSU fan. No matter what happens, whether State rises up or not, I can't, and will not be able to respect U-M or their fans for the LOOOOONG forseeable future. And take note, Hart's comments didn't even make me mad. They just disappointed me. I liked and respected him. Not anymore. Hope he blows an achilles. (Not really, I guess) |

Hart shouldn't have made his comments, but I don't see it as bad as Spartans do... When MSU gets a win over UM, it does seem like when the kid brother beats the elder. MSU even acts just like the jealous younger sibling when they get a win.
To me, the bigger issue is Dantonio showing a lack of class in his response. He is the coach, not a player. His making fun of Hart's short stature is simply classless. Without Hart, MSU wins that game. You would think he would respect the player's ability and keep his slander private rather than picking on a player who is never going to be able to beat him again (although I would love to see Mike Hart go up against them with this motivation!) I'll say this too... if I'm recruiting a player that State is also after and he happens to be 5'8 or 5'9... I mention what Dantonio thinks of short players. Coaches should take the high road in talking about players. Let the players talk about other players... |

Ease up there, Drew Sharp. Javon Ringer made some comment earlier in the week about Michigan State being like Michigan's little brother or something along that. I am sure Mike Hart was just picking up on that and having a little fun with it. If anything, Dantonio crossed the line a few times. It's one thing to have kids like Hart or Hoyer talking a little smack about an in-state rivalry, it's another thing to have the coach doing it. You don't see Lloyd Carr going off like that. (Granted, he's just a miserable bastard in other ways. A good coach, but a miserable bastard...) You have to admit, the moment of silence thing was pretty sweet. Very clever and well-deserved. It was like Sparty planting the flag at South Bend, only more clever. It's good to get a little fire in the belly about this rivalry! Heck, if we can't get things going on the field, I guess we need to start some off-field stuff.

Just re-read this. I called my brother and he didn't pick up either, so I sang "Hail to the Victors" on his answering machine. I did the same with one of my good buddies who went to State. They knew it was me and didn't answer. Odd. It's become a yearly tradition really...

You realize Hart was lead into the question dont you? He was asked something like, 'do you think of MSU as your little brother?'. That question even came from comments made by a MSU player. He probably should have just avoided the question, but good god, who cares. Talk about blowing something out of proportion. |

I'm waiting on seeing a Spartan player with rage and hatred in his eyes, nostrils flaring, sneer the declaration: Next year, sofas will burn!

This sounds like he's taunting MSU fans here. "Get ready -- more 1-5 Big Ten seasons are yet to come!" It's very....Millen-esque. Anyway, now I'll be serious. I'm surprised Hart made those comments -- he usually seems like a classier guy. I don't really follow MSU football enough to know, but you'd think that Dantonio SHOULD be a classier guy than to make his joke about U of M. But you know what? None of those guys are me. Hart can say whatever the hell he wants, and so can Dantonio, but they're still different people from us. They don't represent the fans in any way. I don't look at the Michigan football team as some ethical barometer for my life -- all I do is watch the game on Saturday (or later if I have to tape it) and hope they win. |
