BBCF Interactive Dynasty: 2007 Season

Welcome to Florida Atlantic football!

There is some excitement for the Owls this season! Head Coach Anthony Fountain has landed two stellar recruits, luring them away from the high prestige schools in Florida.

RB Jamie Moore is a speedster with great moves who is a threat to go the distance any time he touches the ball. On the defensive side, MLB Dean Hoo is also a speedster who wil beat running backs to the sideline and will make QB's think twice about throwing to that TE across the middle. As good as they are, the players surrounding them are mostly scrubs. It will be a challenge as these guys try to lift Florida Atlantic football into the spotlight.

This is an interactive dynasty where I follow a low prestige school (FAU) and put two 5 star recruits (one offense, one defense) on the roster each season.

If you're interested in participating, please see the sign up thread.

The current schedule of players is:

2007

Offense: RB Jamie Moore (oykib)
Defense: ILB Dean Hoo (law90026)

2008

Offense: WR Al Mighty (thealmighty)
Defense: DE Jace Hunter (Travis)

2009

Offense: QB AJ Tucker (tucker342)
Defense: OLB Rick Jolley (rjolley)

2010 and beyond are still open...

Potential

Projects to be a decent between the tackles rusher, but nothing that will set him apart. Could develop average outside running ability but anything more would be a surprise. He'll never be thought of as a track star but his speed should be serviceable. His ability to bust tackles will lead to more big gains than the average back.

Potential

His style of play will lend itself to him becoming a solid blitzer from the inside linebacker position. As he matures, it is likely that he will become one of the strongest linebackers in the college game. He will play with a decent amount of aggression with a little more time in the system. When fully developed, his pass coverage ability will complement his game nicely.

It's a pretty bad team overall. The only other players worth anything are RB Michael Wells, RB Mark Olson, and T Paul Ellis. With so much depth at RB, I doubt we'll be throwing the ball very much.

It will be interesting to see how far this one dimensional team can go.

#19 Alabama at Florida Atlantic

So for some reason, Alabama agreed to come play at our place. I'm not really sure why (that was pure AI scheduling, i had nothing to do with it). It should make for an interesting debut for our freshmen.

We gave Alabama a pretty tough fight in this one, actually taking a 6-3 lead into the 2nd quarter. Dean Hoo started off strong with a broken up pass and sack on Alabamas first possession. He almost single handedly stopped several Alabama drives, keeping us in the game. Jamie Moore had a few nice runs, helping us get a series of FG's. At halftime, the score was only 17-9. Unfortunately, Alabama got it together after halftime and broke the game open with two quick 3rd quarter TD's tot ake a 31-9. This forced us to give up the running game and switch to the less successful passing attack. The best we could do was one more FG and Alabama added a late TD for a 38-12 final score.

Can't be upset with this loss. 38-12 loss to the #19 team is a pretty good showing if you ask me. Both Moore and Hoo played very well in the loss. Moore had 93 yards rushing and Hoo had 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Week 2

Florida Atlantic (0-1) at Bowling Green (0-1)

After playing Alabama tough, you think we'd be fired up for our road trip to Bowling Green. That didn't turn out to be the case. On the first series of the game, Dean Hoo recovers a fumble in BG territory. After a quick 2 and out, FAU kicker Fredric Duff misses a FG. Bowling Green takes the ball and quickly marches 80 yards for a 7-0 lead. That was pretty much the story of the game. A couple of nice runs by Moore put us in FG range again, which we convert this time to only be down 7-3. Unfortunately, these would be our last points of the game. The BG defense helf Moore to 59 yards rushing and despite Hoo's valiant play, our defense was completely manhandled as Bowling Green ran away with a 37-3 victory.

This was an ugly loss, and it won't get any better as we travel to Arkansas next week.

Let's get this one started again...

Week 3

Florida Atlantic (0-2) at Arkansas (2-0)

After a valiant 1st quarter by the defense, it was a scoreless tie. The Razorbacks would score on consecutive 2nd quarter drives to take a 10-0 lead. However, we clearly came ready to play and answered on a 2 yard TD run by Jamie Moore to make it a 3 pt. game. Arkansas would score right before the hald and right afteer the half to go up by 17. The rout seemed to be on. However, QB Matthew Bearden found a hole in the Arkansas defense (clearly keying heavily on Moore) and hit Keith Wallace for a 52 yard TD pass. A late 3rd quarter drive ended in a FG and we entered the fourth quarter only losing 24-17. Sadly, the defense couldn't hold and we gave up consecutive TD drives to open the 4th. With a 38-17 deficit, the Owl offense could only get a meaningless late TD.

Final Score: Arkansas 38, Florida Atlantic 24

Freshman Report...

Jamie Moore: 31 rushes-163 yards-1 TD, 4 carries-13 yards- 0 TD
Dean Hoo: 13 Tackles, 4 Assists, 1 Sack, 2 Stuffs

Next up: We open conference plat with a home game against Arkansas State

Leading the nation in tackles? Good.
Losing games? Bad.

Week 4

Arkansas State (0-3) at Florida Atlantic (0-3)

The conference opener for these two winless teams is an ugly, ugly game. Arkansas State moves the ball with relative ease throughout the game, but turnovers constantly caused problems. The scoring started less than three minutes in when FAU CB Robert Soto returned an INT 91 yards for a TD. Two minutes later and SS Robert Santiago would return another INT 65 yardsw for the TD. It was 14-0 and the FAU offense hadn't even been on the field. Arkansas State finally added a FG, but Owls LB Dean Hoo opened the 2nd quarter by perfectly reading a reverse and dropping the WR int he end zone for a Safety. Then the Owls continued dominating in unconventional ways when Rolando Meyer returned a punt 100 yard for a TD. FAU went into the locker room with a 22-6 lead and the offense hadn't scored a point. With starting QB Matthew Bearden struggling, the 2nd half saw the Owls pounding away with Moore, who did a nice job of chewing up the clock. The teams traded TD's in the 4th quarter and FAU opens up conference season with a bizaare victory. The defense forced 8 turnovers in the game.

Final Score: Florida Atlantic 29, Arkansas State 12

Freshman report...

Jamie Moore: 35 carries-129 yards-0 TD, 3 catches-23 yards-0 TD
Dean Hoo: 8 Tackles, 1 Sack, 3 Stuffs, 1 Hurry, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Pass Defended

Next up is two consecutive bye weeks, which should be good for Jamie Moore's 35 carries.
