Anyone here work in PR?
I am looking to change careers and get into public relations, preferably at a small company or college. If anyone here works in public relations and doesn't mind a few general questions on how to "get into the field," please PM me.

don't work in it, but did do an internship in college with the ASU Athletics PR department, and my degree is basically in PR.
It really is an industry of who do you know to get your foot in the door. If your college/university has a specific PR degree then they can/will usually get you an internship, unpaid usually. feel free to shoot me a PM if you have more questions. |

Feel free to drop me a PM with your questions. I started in journalism and I've been in PR for almost 10 years. Sounds like you're wanting to go into in-house PR which is certainly different from agency work. Personally, I wouldn't want to work for an agency and like the route I've chosen (association PR) but it depends on your interests.
Drop me a PM with questions if you want. Would be happy to tell you what I can. |
