Steamers

Clothes steamers, you perverts.

Anyone use them? Good, bad? Any brands you recommend or where to get them? I hate ironing and was told these work very well instead.

They work well but they're just as much of a pain in the ass as ironing.

Aww why are they as crappy as irons? Can't I just hang up a shirt or pants and steam them, and voila it's done? With ironing, I always end up re-wrinkling the side I'm not on.

I've got both, and to be honest, both suck. I end up throwing my shirt in the dryer (after getting it slightly wet)...10 minutes, put on a suit coat, and voila, you get the frumpy middle-class guy in his thirties look... chicks dig it...

Why do steamers suck? Don't you just hang a shirt or pants and wave over it with the steam, and it's done?

Cleveland Steamers?

Actually, I used a clothes steamer to help get the wall paper of the walls at my house.

The other day during a Stanley Steamer commercial I added Cleveland Steamer in there to which the wife gave me the "huh?" look. After I explained it she looked at me like I had just violated a puppy dog sans lube.

She can't understand how people could be into that... to which I explained 2 girls 1 cup...

Still going to take you a couple minutes usually.

Mine takes like 5 minutes to heat up and you need to wave it over a shirt for at least a couple minutes. I don't know if mine sucks or if I'm just doing something wrong, but it sometimes ends up getting water spots on the shirt, which is a problem.

Hmm, that sucks. I guess I can try one out and return it if it sucks.

This is where wives come in handy. My wife can somehow iron a shirt in like 45 seconds, whereas that same shirt would take me 10 minutes and I'd have one or two massive creases ironed into it. I don't understand her ironing voodoo, but it is certainly powerful.

I was hoping this thread would be about steamed clams and melted butter. Instead I get pooped-on chests and talk of clothes pressing.
