Football Cards
We were putting away some stuff this weekend from the move and my wife found some football cards. I have rookie Upper Deck cards of Peyton Manning and Randy Moss....I just checked and they aren't worth anything on ebay right now. Probably no more so than the rookie Ryan Leaf card I have as well.

I was going to post on this today.. I was in a local collectors shop this past week and I started asking questions, cause I have over 10,000 football cards from the 80's and 90's and around 30,000 baseball cards from the 70's,80's,90's and the one statement I heard from almost every person that was in there, the cards from the 80's and 90's and early 2000's were and are considered poor cards. Enter the new cards and their pricing....You have 3 ranges on pricing...the ones I want to comment on...The $50 to $175 a pack. You are reading right, that is per pack. They provide authentic aspects of the player, a piece of his game jersey or a certified autograph, and sell for a lot...being a BYU fan, I saw a John Beck rookie with a game jersey autographed on ebay selling for $750...just crazy....

So my 2 rookie Walter Payton's should stay in my collection? I wouldn't want to get rid of them anyway. It is the only thing I still have from being 6 years old.

The hobby has changed some much it's just crazy.
I collect only Colts items, but decided to trim down my collection. Sold about 40 things, made $1100. Those classic cards I got in packs in the 80s aren't the rage...people like autographs, jerseys, etc. I only collect those types of cards anymore, and just things I like. I refuse to pay $150 for a box when usually you are lucky to get $50 in cards in return. I buy the singles I like and know I can make the money back if I want to move them for better items. I can't see myself paying big money for some cards. As for the guy with the Walter Payton RCs, keep them. Those are worth something and nice looking 70s cards are rare. It's a fun hobby, but not for kids anymore....not when your top pack is $500 each...yeah, $500. |

I have Dan Marino and John Elway rookie cards. Guess I need to hold on to them for another 50 or so years before they might be worth something.
